The trailer for Ben Affleck’s new movie just dropped — here’s everything you need to know about ‘The Accountant 2’

Ready to see Affleck do what he does best?

Nothing says “movies are BACK, baby!” quite like news of a high-octane, no-holds-barred action blockbuster with Ben Affleck. And, luckily for us and all of you, ‘The Accountant 2’, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2016’s ‘The Accountant’, is delivering just that when it hits cinemas come April 24.

Now, for those of you who haven’t seen the first movie, you should go and do so immediately. But here’s the TL;DR: Ben Affleck plays Christian Wolff, an accountant who looks after the books of questionable clients, and his methods aren’t exactly legal. With dodgy figures, and the United States Treasury, on his case, he combines his next-level math skills and overall badass-ery to take down any threat that comes his way.

In ‘The Accountant 2’, however, Wolff’s reputation precedes him. When Treasury agent Marybeth Medina, played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, discovers that her former boss has been killed by mystery assassins, she is left with no other choice than to go to Wolff for help.

But, as fans will know, Chris isn’t the lone Wolff. His brother Braxton, played by Jon Bernthal, joins Marybeth and his brother to help solve the murder, but the siblings are nothing alike. Chris is methodical, calculated and stoic and Brax is… anything but. He’s raw, emotional and at times erratic. Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal play these characters at such brilliant odds with one another, so much so that you never really know if the push and pull between the two will derail them from what they’re actually working together on in the first place.

Against all odds, the trio inch closer to uncovering the truth behind Medina’s boss’ murder, but not without drawing the attention — and ire — of some of the world’s most cold-blooded killers, determined to stop them from discovering exactly what happened, and the deadly conspiracy it’s all connected to.

That complex, and relatable, relationship between the siblings — as well as newfound partner Medina — also helps bring the fun and laughs to ‘The Accountant 2’. At its core, it’s a suspenseful, action-packed thriller, sure. But thanks to the work of the cast and crew, the movie balances the all-consuming suspense with bouncy, light-hearted moments to take you through the full gamut of emotion. A movie on the big screen that can make you laugh, cry, scream and laugh some more? Sign me up.

No matter what you go to ‘The Accountant 2’ for — be it the unrelenting action, unsuspecting laughs or even just Affleck and Bernthal doing what they do best — this is a movie that’s meant for the big screen. So, don’t miss your chance to see ‘The Accountant 2’, out April 24, only in cinemas.
