Hayden Christensen opens up about Star Wars future after return to franchise

The actor said he'd love to be sharing a screen with Ewan McGregor again

Hayden Christensen has spoken about his future with the Star Wars franchise ahead of his next live-action appearance.

Revenge of the Sith is back in cinemas at the moment to celebrate the movie's 20th anniversary, but the man who brought a young Anakin Skywalker to life has had plenty to do in the world of Star Wars since then.

He lent his voice to The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, and a few years later, he got inside the Darth Vader suit for Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Fortunately ,he was also able to film some scenes out of the costume, and did the same for the Ahsoka TV series a couple of years ago, so it should come as no surprise that he's going to be in the upcoming second season of the show.

Star Wars fans were pretty damn happy to have Hayden back, and if we're being honest, that man has aged very well to the point that even 20 years on from Revenge of the Sith, he still absolutely looks the part.

It was confirmed at the Star Wars Celebration 2025 that he'd be coming back, and frankly, it'd be a bit weird if he wasn't going to be a part of season two after they got him on stage to talk about the show.

Precisely how he'll return remains to be seen, but since he's back in Star Wars, it's possible that there'll be even more of him to see depending on what gets the green light.

Speaking to GAMINGbible, Christensen said he 'would love' to do even more live action Star Wars in the future, especially if he got to do more scenes in the Clone Wars era.

He said: "I think the Clone Wars era is such a compelling time in Anakin’s life that we never really got to see much of it in live action, and getting to do that a little bit in Ahsoka has been a real thrill.

"But I would love to get to do that with Ewan (McGregor). I know that he's game too. So maybe one day the fans will get what they want."

While Anakin and Obi-Wan's adventures in the Clone Wars were shown in the long-running cartoon series, we only got a brief glimpse of live-action Anakin in the Clone Wars during Ahsoka, so a future where we could get more is tantalising.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for that day, and hopefully the stars will align and we can see Anakin and Obi-Wan together on our screens once again.

While chatting to yours truly last year for his show A Gentleman in Moscow, Ewan McGregor told LADbible said he was 'pretty sure' he'd get the chance to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again, but as of March 2024, he hadn't had the call for another project.

In the past, Christensen has said he'd be up for doing a series playing Darth Vader, while his return to the iconic suit for Obi-Wan Kenobi got fans so hyped up that they stormed the set to get a look at him in action.

If Disney could get Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor back together again, it'd likely get a lot of fans very hyped up.
