An online editor has made a trailer for a third Home Alone focused on Kevin McAllister and the Wet Bandits, which, combined with Macaulay Culkin teasing a return to the franchise, has fans excited about the prospect of another film.
Culkin’s role as Kevin McCallister spawned arguably the most iconic Christmas film of all time, but after doing two of the films, the actor decided he was done.
He ended up leaving Hollywood for years, quitting acting entirely at the age of 14. Over the last few years, however, Culkin has gradually returned to Hollywood, appearing in indie films and TV shows.
And this year marks his major return to TV and film, with appearances in Zootopia 2, releasing this weekend, and in the upcoming second season of Fallout.

But whilst Home Alone 3, 4, and even a recent reboot all exist, the widely agreed opinion is that they simply don’t live up to the first two, which feature Culkin in the lead role.

The good news for the many fans with that opinion, however, is that the actor has teased that he is open to returning to the film series for another movie, even suggesting what he thinks the possible plot could be.
Speaking as part of his A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin tour, Culkin said: “I kind of had this idea. I’m either a widower or a divorcee.
“I’m raising a kid and all that stuff. I’m working really hard, and I’m not really paying enough attention, and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me, and then I get locked out.

“[Kevin’s son] won’t let me in… and he’s the one setting traps for me.”
He suggested that the idea be that ‘the house is some sort of metaphor for [their] relationship’, something that gained him plaudits online.

One tweet in response to the quotes said: “This sounds like a surprisingly heartfelt take. A Home Alone movie that's actually about repair and connection.”
Another said: "This is the first time I’ve heard a legacy sequel concept that doesn’t feel like a cash grab. It sounds like a story with something to say. He is cookin.”

When asked specifically about whether he’d return, Culkin said he ‘wouldn’t be allergic’ to returning, but added: “It would have to be just right.”
Whilst not the exact concept Culkin pitched in his newest quotes, the trailer for a potential Home Alone 3 was made by a fan and suggested the Wet Bandits would be trying to get revenge on a now-grown-up Kevin.
Fans in the comments, however, pointed out one slight flaw with this plan, something that would be addressed in the possible sequel suggested by the Home Alone actor.
One comment said: “Robbers: hey, remember when we failed to rob this house because of that kid? Well he's all grown-up now, let's try rob his house again!”

Thankfully, it sounds like if Culkin wants to come back for another film, they will avoid that hurdle by potentially having Kevin be the one breaking in, and not the Wet Bandits.
