Nicole Kidman has revealed that things got a little steamy during the production of her new erotic thriller movie.

The Big Little Lies star, 57, isn't shy when it comes to sexualised roles, with Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Netflix's A Family Affair under her belt already.

However, her latest film sees the actor explore 'an area [she'd] never been' in her career before.

Kidman will star alongside Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas in steamy thriller Babygirl, which is set to land in cinemas early next year. The risqué flick sees The Perfect Couple star take on the role of Romy, a workaholic CEO in a loveless marriage who decides to embark on a passionate affair with Samuel (Dickinson), a younger intern in her company.

Through the relationship between Romy and Samuel, the film explores the nature of power dynamics and sexuality within a professional setting.

So, as you can imagine, the movie features a lot of sexually charged moments between the on-screen lovers.

So much so that Kidman had to halt filming on several occasions after feeling herself get a little too hot under the collar.

Speaking about filming the sex scenes, the actor revealed she had to stop the cameras rolling as she didn't 'want to orgasm any more'.

"There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration. It's like, 'Don't touch me'," she explained in an interview with The Sun.

"There were times when we were shooting where I was like, 'I don't want to orgasm any more'," she continued.

"Don't come near me. I hate doing this. I don't care if I am never touched again in my life! I'm over it.

"It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout."

This isn't the first time Kidman has opened up on what it was like to partake such explicit scenes, with the star explaining how intimacy co-ordinators helped her feel comfortable during shooting.

“I’m a huge believer still in the sacredness of the set or the actors’ space and it never being violated,” she admitted. “It’s ours, it’s the bubble, and then there’s the world outside.”

Dickinson has also praised intimacy co-ordinator Lizzy Talbot, as he said: “She was important for the film and broke the unnecessary barrier and conversation around what you have to do.

Speaking of the film's director, Kidman added: “I knew [director] Halina [Reijn] wasn’t going to exploit me. It’s the story I wanted to be part of, that I wanted to tell.

“Every part of me was committed to that. There was enormous caretaking by all of us, we were all very gentle with each other and helped each other.”

Babygirl premieres in UK cinemas on 10 January 2025.
