Seth Rogen has had many comedic partners throughout his career; however, many would consider Zac Efron and Rose Byrne to be his most underrated pairings.

The trio worked together on Bad Neighbours and its sequel, two of Rogen’s most popular films of the last ten years.

Rogen has continued working with co-star Byrne in his new Apple TV+ show Platonic, over a decade after Bad Neighbours helped revitalise Efron’s career as a comedic star.

Whilst many will consider Rogen’s most iconic comedic partner to be James Franco, Rogen has been very clear that he has no imminent plans to work with the actor again following accusations of sexual assault and misconduct.

If instead people are hoping Rogen will reunite with Efron and Byrne for another Bad Neighbours film, you might be shocked to find out – a third instalment in the series already happened, and you almost definitely will not have seen it.

For those unaware, the series follows Mac and Kelly, played by Rogen and Byrne, whose peaceful life is ruined by a fraternity moving next door, headed up by Teddy and Pete, played by Efron and Dave Franco.

The second film sees them teaming up to take down a sorority that takes over the lease.

In Bad Neighbours 3: Zombies Rising, however, they take on the zombie apocalypse.

The short film saw Rogen and Efron return to their respective roles, though Byrne is notably absent.

Filmed as cross-promotion for Bad Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising and Fear the Walking Dead, it sees Teddy and Mac arguing over a tied-up zombie after they discover it’s part of Teddy’s sorority.

Ending with Efron and Rogen as themselves pitching the zombie-based threequel, this is likely as good as it will get regarding a possible sequel.

Rogen has expressed bringing back Efron to star in a project with him and Rose Byrne. Indeed, he tried to get the High School Musical star to appear on Platonic, his new show with Byrne.

When asked about bringing Efron onto the show, Byrne said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t understand why that hasn’t come to fruition yet.

“Now I have it in my head that’s what we need to do.”

Rogen added: “We need to get Ike [Barinholtz, who also appeared in Bad Neighbours and is a frequent Rogen collaborator] and Zac [Efron] in Platonic.

“That’d be great.”

Platonic season two is out now on Apple TV+.
