Sydney Sweeney has been slammed and labelled a 'cretin' by Ruby Rose as the fallout over her biopic Christy continues.
Sweeney's latest movie, which saw her play retired boxer Christy Martin, has so far struggled at the box office, earning just $1,310,888 (£999,532) over its domestic opening weekend against a budget of $15 million.
The dismal figures mean the biopic has received an unwanted record of being in the Top 10 of films which received the worst opening weekend of all time after being screened in over 2,000 theatres.
Christy's poor performance comes amid a period of controversy for Sweeney, with the Euphoria star facing backlash over her American Eagle jeans advert and her subsequent reaction to the controversy during an interview with GQ.

Actor and model Ruby Rose has now weighed in on the situation, branding Sweeney a 'cretin' and saying she was originally attached to the Christy role.

'The original Christy Martin script was incredible'
Sharing her feelings about the film and Sweeney in a post on Instagram's Threads, the Orange Is The New Black star said the Christy script she'd been attached to had been 'life changing'.
"The original Christy Martin script was incredible. Life changing. I was attached to play Cherry," she said, referring to Boxing Hall of Famer Martin as 'Cherry'.
"Everyone had experience with the core material. Most of us were actually gay. It’s part of why I stayed in acting. Losing roles happens all the time."
Rose's mention of her sexuality appears to be in reference to the fact that Martin herself is a lesbian, a point which features in the film.
Rose then went on to address Sweeney and her team directly, adding: "For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS did it for the ‘people’. None of ‘the people’ want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us.
"You’re a cretin and you ruined the film. Period. Christy deserved better."

Sydney Sweeney's statement on the film
Rose's comments came after Sweeney posted a statement defending the film and its poor public reception online, saying that she was 'proud' of the film and her work as Martin.
"I am so deeply proud of this movie," she wrote.
"Proud of the film david made. Proud of the story we told. proud to represent someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin. This experience has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
"We don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact. And christy has been the most impactful project of my life. Thank you christy. I love you."
What are critics saying about Christy?
Despite the negative comments towards Sweeney and her performance on social media, Christy has received a mixed response from critics.
Sitting at 65 percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing, a review from The Standard said the film 'entertains but will not knock anyone out' while Time Out called it a 'career-best turn' for Sweeney.
Meanwhile the BBC said the 28-year-old's profile made it 'difficult to believe her as the character' and Mashable called the project 'a big miss'.
LADbible has reached out to Sydney Sweeney's representatives for comment.
