Peep Show fans can’t believe how many stars from the show appear in new Wonka movie

Wonka viewers are buzzing to see the familiar faces in the film

If there’s something that screams getting cosy season, it’s rewatching your favourite shows and films with a sh*tload of chocolate.

So, to be fair, a prequel to Roald Dahl’s story about a big old chocolate factory seems pretty perfect.

And to top it off, the new Wonka even features a number of characters from the absolutely legendary Peep Show.

The recently released chocolate-filled film has received high praise so far, sitting with 83 percent on the Tomatometer.

And users are particularly buzzing to see some of their faves from the classic Channel 4 sitcom.

One wrote on X: “Paul King does it again, giving us a whimsical, heartfelt and comedic musical which allows Chalamet to shine in a way I’ve never seen before.

“Also, this film acts as a Peep Show/Horrible Histories reunion which was a personal highlight!”

So let’s see who it is ‘reuniting’ in Wonka.

Paterson Joseph

Yep, that's Johnson in Wonka.
Warner Bros.

Yep, that’s right, Alan Johnson from Peep Show features in the new Hollywood flick.

Once the nemesis to Mark and Jeremy in the cult sitcom, he’s another ‘evil’ character in Wonka.

Joseph plays Slugworth, a member of the Chocolate Cartel trying to stop little Willy from opening his own chocolate shop.

One user wrote on X: “Losing my mind that Johnson from Peep Show is playing an evil chocolate mogul in the new Wonka movie.”

People on X have been having endless fun giving classic Alan Johnson Peep Show quotes a Wonka twist alongside stills of Joseph in the new film.

Highlights include: "You know what I’m hearing Wonka? Poor me. Poor me. Pour me another fizzy lifting drink!" and: "In. Fire 30% of the Oompa Loompas. New logo. Boom. Out. You are now a fully trained chocolate factory management consultant."

Mathew Baynton

Baynton is also a villain.
Warner Bros.

Also known for Ghosts and Horrible Histories (obviously), Baynton played Simon in Peep Show.

He’s the ex-boyfriend of Dobby, popping up at various points to pose threat to Mark’s relationship with her.

In Wonka, he plays another member of the Chocolate Cartel, Fickelgruber – so yes, it’s a mini Peep Show reunion for the film’s villains.

He also told Yahoo UK that his time on Horrible Histories helped prepare him for the musical numbers in the film.

I mean, ‘King of Bling’ is in my head already.

Olivia Colman

Colman had her breakthrough on Peep Show.
Warner Bros.

Bit of a running theme here, Colman also stars as a villain in Wonka.

All hail the queen, who actually had her breakthrough on Peep Show in the early Noughties.

The star, of course, played Sophie on the sitcom, Mark’s main love interest and co-worker.

In Wonka, she plays Scrubbit who alongside Bleacher (Tom Davis) traps the chocolate master in a hotel room at the beginning of the film.

Wonka is currently showing in cinemas.
