While fans are still dealing with the news that there’s even more time to wait, a subtle detail in the latest Grand Theft Auto VI trailer confirms something many had wished wouldn’t be true.
The long-awaited second trailer for the even longer-awaited video game dropped earlier this afternoon (6 May).
At the end of last week, Rockstar Games announced the official release date as 26 May, 2026, after the assumption it would be released this year.

Presuming it does actually come out then, it will have been almost 13 years since the last GTA game was released.
And now it looks like when it does finally become a reality, millions won’t be able to play it as the new trailer has confirmed something they didn’t want to see.
At the end of the trailer, Rockstar makes it clear that GTA 6 will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
PC users had been clinging on, wondering if they’d be able to join in with playing but it doesn’t quite look like that'll be the case.

“RIP many PCs who will want to at least try GTA VI,” one user wrote on X.
And some don’t think their device will even be able to hack it anyway as another added: “What about my pc that’s almost as old as GTA 5.”
But some are refusing to budge, clinging on to hope as they say: “GTA VI stuff is awesome, but this will still not convince me to get me a PS5 or Xbox for it.
“@RockstarGames launch it also on PC you cowards!”
Well, as most fans know, the theory is that GTA 6 would launch on PC about a year or so after release – making the wait that bit even longer.

And according to the boss of Take-Two, the father company of Rockstar, PC gamers don’t need to start panicking.
Speaking to IGN earlier this year, Strauss Zelnick explained about how the company released games: "So with Civilization 7, it's available on console and PC and Switch right away.
"With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms."
That happened way back when with GTA 5, which came out in September 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, while only becoming available on PC in April 2015.

So, PS5 and Xbox gamers, while you complain about the long wait for GTA 6 right now, spare a thought for your comrades on their PCs who will inevitably be waiting even longer.
