A Married At First Sight Australia (MAFS) star is facing financial hardship after his Instagram account was hacked.

Nick Furphy, who appeared in season four of the show, says he cannot attend events, connect with his 72,000 followers, or

He said he became the victim of hacking last month and revealed the only way to regain access to his account was to pay AUD $3,633 to a company that helps restore hacked accounts.

The reality star even launched a GoFundMe page so he could pay the hefty fee.

He wrote on the fundraising campaign site: "Help a reality star in need as he fights to get his Instagram account back from the clutches of evil hackers!"

Ah, yes, a very noble cause indeed.

The description added: "This poor guy's entire livelihood and happiness depends on his verified Instagram account.

"Without it, Nick can't make a living, go to events, or even pick up chicks! (Okay, maybe that last one isn't so important, but you get the idea)."

It continued: "I am not just asking for money to restore Nick's Instagram account, but for your support in getting back to... what he does best: entertaining and inspiring others.

GoFundMe

"Your contribution will help Nick regain control of my online presence and continue to provide for myself and my loved ones."

The post added: "I understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, but if you are able to donate any amount, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated."

The GoFundMe has since been deleted and there's no information about why.

The reality star added that if he can log back into his account, he will use this as a learning curb and enforce 'harsher security' to ensure this never happens again.

Former MAFS stars have even banded together and donated to the worthy cause.

His former flame Jessika Power, who also appeared on season six of the show, lent a crisp AUD $5 and Dan Hunjas, aka 'Ocean Daddy', donated $35.

While the ad has since been taken down, it's unclear if Furphy raised enough funds.

If not, here's an idea: why not head down to your local and snag a job as a barista?

Or heck, even contact the MAFS producers and force them to recruit for an all-star season.

Now that I'd watch.
