One of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time just got even better!

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Muppet Christmas Carol, Disney+ has brought back one iconic 'forgotten' scene that was removed from the film when it was re-released.

When the 1992 Christmas special first came to Disney+, hardcore fans couldn't help but notice that one of the film's pivotal scenes had been cut out - a beautiful song called 'When Love Is Gone'.

The iconic scene is officially back.

The Muppet Christmas Carol, which starred Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, and The Great Gonzo as Charles Dickens, has an unforgettable soundtrack, but the film's theatrical release cut the heartbreaking song about Scrooge's ex-fiancée Belle.

As the age-old story goes, Scrooge is taken by the Ghost of Christmas Past to look back at his younger years.

He is then forced to watch his younger self end things with Belle, as she realises that he doesn't love her as much as money.

The break-up scene was a pivotal moment in the film, and fans have been calling for the song to be put back in for the longest time.

Brian Henson had previously explained to heartbroken fans that, when the song had been removed from the theatrical release, the video master got lost on the cutting room floor.

"For years and years, I’d call them every six months and see how they were doing. And they actually even put together a team and a little budget to try to find it, and they still couldn’t." he told EW.

But, two years ago, Brian shared the thrilling news that the lost piece of film had actually been found, and it would soon be added to a remastered 4k version of the film.

You can watch the full version of the film now on Disney+.

"I was so excited", he told BBC Radio 2 back in 2020.

"They actually hid it so I went down and they said, ‘But before we show it to you, we’ve got something else we want to show you.’ And they put up reel four of Christmas Carol with ‘When Love Is Gone.'

"I was like, ‘No, you did not!’ and they said, ‘Yes we did! We found it!’ I was so happy, I was so happy."

It's a Christmas miracle!

The remastered version of The Muppet Christmas Carol - with 'When Love Is Gone' included - was uploaded to Disney+ over the weekend and fans are buzzing to watch it.

Announcing the news on Twitter, the official Muppets account shared: "'When Love is Gone' is gone no more! See the beloved song restored within The Muppet Christmas Carol (Full Length Version) found in the Extras section only on Disney Plus."

Commenting on the exciting news, one fan wrote: "Fantastic! The whole reason he is how he is, is because of this scene! I actually used to as go as far as pause and bring up the missing clip on YouTube."

Another raved: "It’s so good to hear 'When Love is Gone' in the movie again."

And a third added: "This is such good news. The entire narrative arc is structurally compromised without it."
