The release of a new series rarely passes by without complaints about supposed plot holes - and His & Hers isn't immune to it either.
Reviews have been pouring in from both critics and viewers about the murder mystery that landed on Netflix last week, as the six-part series has had people 'hooked'.
Creed star Tessa Thompson and The Walking Dead legend Jon Bernthal take the lead, starring as a pair of estranged spouses who are brought back together while a serial killer runs rampant in their hometown.

Bodies start stacking up in the small town of Dahlonega, Georgia, and fingers are pointed in all kinds of directions as skeletons keep tumbling out of closets.
It's a thrilling ride, to say the least - but those who have blitzed through all six episodes already have pointed out that there are a few plot holes that go unaddressed in His & Hers.
But there's one part in particular which has really frustrated viewers, as people have been left 'mind boggled' by 'one of the biggest' inconsistencies in the storyline.
Beware if you haven't smashed through all six episodes just yet, as there will be some His & Hers spoilers mentioned throughout.
The series kicks off by introducing viewers to news anchor Anna Andrews (Thompson) lurking in the shadows on a dark, rainy night, which immediately suggests she's up to no good.
It then emerges that the reporter has been AWOL for the last 12 months, as, following the tragic death of her infant daughter, she fled Dahlonega, while deserting her husband, detective Jack Harper (Bernthal), in the process.

He's still picking up the pieces of his life after trying to track her down for the last year, and is left stunned when Anna returns to the town where she grew up to cover the suspicious murder of a local woman.
But this isn't just any woman who's wound up dead...it's one of Anna's former school friends, Rachel Hopkins, who has been secretly sleeping with her husband while she's been out of town.
It's evident that Anna and Jack have got a lot of unfinished business from the get-go in His & Hers, and dually, the audience is led to believe that they each might be hiding some sinister secrets.
What happens in His & Hers?

Long story short, Anna's former classmates - Rachel, Helen Wang, and Jack's sister Zoe Harper (Marin Ireland) - are eventually all bumped off in brutal ways.
In an epic twist, the killer is eventually unmasked as Anna's mother, Alice, who has managed to fool everyone into thinking that dementia is to blame for her suspicious behaviour.
Alice launched her murder spree in the pursuit of justice after discovering that the twisted trio invited three lads to Anna's 16th birthday party to sexually assault her.
In one chilling scene in His & Hers, the teenage bullies are seen hauntingly singing 'Happy Birthday' to Anna as they sickeningly watched the men pounce on her.
Before she's savagely slaughtered in the bathtub by the elderly assassin who has tricked everyone into thinking she's losing her marbles to cover up the murders, Zoe tries to tell her brother Jack about this horror incident.

The mum is left baffled that her sister-in-law Anna never spilt the beans, but doesn't manage to get her words out about how the bash 'got out of hand', as Jack has to dash off to follow up a lead.
What is the 'biggest' plot hole that viewers have spotted in His & Hers?

There's no love lost between Anna and Zoe in the series, as the news anchor describes her sister-in-law, who's more than partial to an alcoholic beverage, as a 'train wreck'.
During one exchange between the two characters, Zoe hints at the sexual assault which Anna suffered while quizzing her about why she's returned to Dahlonega, as she coldly says: "Are you still holding a grudge? It's been 20 f**king years and it wasn't even that big of a deal."

Given that these two clearly don't enjoy each other's company and that Zoe played an instrumental role in planning the attack on Anna, viewers can't get their head around why the journalist decided to marry into her family.
And on top of that, people also can't understand why Anna kept her traumatic experience a secret from Jack, especially when his sister was partly to blame.
What have viewers said about the plot hole?

A quick glance at social media will inform you of just how baffled this His & Hers plot hole has left people, as one person took to Reddit to fume: "WHY DID SHE MARRY ZOES BROTHER AFTER ZOE WAS APART OF THE ASSAULT?!?"
Another said: "This is easily one of the biggest holes in the plot. You'd think Anna would've stayed far away from her or any of those girls after that."
A third added: "I just couldn't get over that Anna would marry Jack considering that Zoe was complicit in her assault. That just brought up so many questions for me with regards to how she and Jack even started seeing each other, how often did she see Zoe, how would that not just re-traumatise her again and again and again?"
Similar conversations unfolded over on X too, as one person asked: "I’m sorry but Anna married the brother of one of her friends who refused to help during the attack!?!? Again YOU gotta be kidding me. That makes no sense."
A second His & Hers fan chimed in, saying: "Did I miss how Anna and Jack even got together? Like, why would she even want to be with him after what his sister did to her?"
And another commented: "You know what mind boggled me about His & Hers? How Anna went through trauma that Jack’s sister Zoe was directly involved in and ended up marrying him..."
Fan theory that 'answers' His & Hers plot hole

Although some fans can't make head nor tail of how Anna and Jack ended up together despite the events that unfolded two decades previously, some viewers have offered up their own hypothesis.
A lot of people on Reddit seem to believe that it could all have been part of the protagonist's 'master plan' to enact revenge on her former school pals.
One person suggested: "Did you ever hear the term keep your friends close in your enemies even closer? I'd like to think that's what her logic was. Maybe one day she planned on exacting revenge for what the girls did to her, and she decided to get close to Zoe’s brother in doing so. And during that process, maybe she started to gain feelings towards Zoe's brother, and she realised that it was real love.
"We don't choose who we love, love chooses us. Love just happens naturally. Constantly seeing Zoe would also bring up those old feelings of anger and regret, and I'm sure that contributed to the toxicity in their relationship."
Plenty of others also believe it was Anna's attempt at 'getting back at' Zoe, too - but what do you reckon?
