Sometimes a show dropping on streaming can have a second life.

Whether it be sitcoms like New Girl and Community over Covid, Gilmore Girls getting a mini reboot, or Suits getting a spin-off show off the back of its success, Netflix in particular can breathe new air into even already successful shows.

Fans of an award-winning British comedy will be hoping for the same, as a beloved show has been added to Netflix today.

Many fans have called it the ‘new Shameless’, and with a brilliant cast featuring the likes of Michelle Keegan, it is worth a watch on that alone.

With five seasons on Sky and a sixth on the way, the show is more than successful enough to not need a second life, but for fans who want it to go on as long as possible, being added to Netflix is sure to open it up to an even bigger audience.

Check out the trailer for season one here:

The show in question is Brassic, and it’s a X-Rated raunchy comedy about a lifelong group of friends who have always made a living off of crime.

This all starts to crack when one member of the group’s girlfriend wants to start afresh away from the town.

With an average score of 8.4 on IMDb, the show’s first season has a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with fans and critics alike raving about it.

This has led to five full seasons of the show, with a sixth coming to Sky in September, and a seventh in production.

Netflix currently have the first four seasons, only missing out on the most recent fifth.

David Sexton of the London Evening Standard called the show ‘a tsunami of filth’ and ‘the perfect end to the perfect day.’

Lucy Magnan, in her four star review for The Guardian, said: “This caper about a gang of friends creating their own entertainment on this and that side of the law brings to mind the best of Shameless.

The show is set for a seventh season, with only the first 4 on Netflix at the moment. (Sky One)

“It is a hilarious, warm, brutal melange that works because it has heart without sentimentality and authenticity without strain. Let’s hope Brassic gets as long as Shameless did.”

One fan on Twitter said: “Brassic hitting Netflix, bound to be everyone’s new favourite tv show”.

Brassic is not just light fun either, but an award-winning show. The series has been nominated for four BAFTAs, as well as winning the Royal Television Society prize for Best Comedy in 2023.

Brassic seasons 1-4 is available to watch on Netflix.
