When it comes to New Year’s Day, there’s two types of people; those who get up and go on a ‘big walk’ fresh as daisy and those who stay on the sofa in front of the telly.

And yesterday (1 January) the latter had an absolute treat with the release of Fool Me Once on Netflix.

Watch the trailer for the series here:

Starring Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage and Joanna Lumley, it’s the latest Harlan Coben series to land on the streaming site.

The synopsis for the thriller reads: “Fool Me Once follows Maya Stern (Keegan) who is trying to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband, Joe (Armitage). But when Maya installs a nanny-cam to keep an eye on her young daughter, she is shocked to see a man she recognises in her house. Her husband, who she thought was dead...”

And as viewers praise it as ‘brilliant’ and ‘amazing’, you might have already managed to binge all eight episodes.

So if there’s a Harlan Coben suspense- shaped hole in your life, there’s still a whole other load of series from the author you can slob out to as you ‘return’ to ‘working from home’.

Fool Me Once was the fourth English-language one to land on Netflix, here are the others:

The Stranger

Richard Armitage also stars in The Stranger.
Netflix

This one dropped back in 2020 and also stars Armitage as well as Hannah John-Kamen and Siobhan Finneran.

Here’s the synopsis: “Adam Price is a happily married father of two whose life is turned upside-down after a stranger tells him a secret about his wife. The revelation catapults him into a world of danger.”

Stay Close

Stay Close was released on the streaming service in 2021.
Netflix

Landing on Netflix in 2021, Stay Close stars Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, Eddie Izzard, Poppy Gilbert, Hyoie O'Grady and - you guessed it - Armitage.

The synopsis reads: “With trademark thrills, gripping suspense and secrets of past crimes beginning to unravel, Stay Close questions how much you really know someone. Four people each conceal dark secrets from those closest to them; Megan a working mother of three, Ray a once-promising documentary photographer, Broome a detective unable to let go of a missing person’s cold case, and Lorraine, an old friend of Megan's.

“As the past comes back to haunt them, threatening to ruin their lives and the lives of those around them, what will be their next move?”

Safe

Safe also consists of eight episodes.
Netflix

This was the first English-language Harlan Coben series to land on Netflix back in 2018 and features Emmett J. Scanlan, Michael C. Hall and Amanda Abbington.

The synopsis follows: “Tom's wife died a year ago and he's bringing up his two daughters, living in a beautiful gated community, with close friends nearby and a new relationship starting.

“But when his eldest daughter disappears in mysterious circumstances, he realises that in fact he knows nothing about the people closest to him - dark secrets about the people he loves and the place where he lives.”

Netflix also has Harlan Coben series in other languages such as The Innocent, Hold Tight, Gone for Good and The Woods.
