The wait is over, folks - Harlan Coben's new star-studded thriller is finally streaming on Netflix.

Coben's books have inspired a series of hit TV shows in recent years - from Safe and Stay Close, to The Stranger and The Woods.

The American writer has a total of eight series on Netflix; with his most recent one dropping today (1 January).

Titled Fool Me Once, the series boasts an all-star cast consisting of Brassic star Michelle Keegan, Richard Armitage and Joanna Lumley.

The eight-part show marks Armitage's third Coben series, having previously starred in The Stranger and Stay Close as well.

The synopsis for the new and highly anticipated series reads: "When ex-soldier Maya sees her murdered husband on a secret nanny cam, she uncovers a deadly conspiracy that stretches deep into the past."

While the series has only been released on Netflix today, one viewer said they're already 'gripped'.

"BRILLIANT," they wrote of the show on social media.

"I'm 3 episodes in and gripped."

A second added: "Superb book, three episodes in - excellent! Great New Year viewing!"

Elsewhere, someone else said that the series being released today was 'the perfect start to the new year'.

Another excited person commented: "Already in my watchlist! Looking forward to binge watching it!"

Speaking ahead of Fool Me Once's release, author Coben hailed it as 'a pulse-pounder'.

"I’m thrilled and honoured to once again be collaborating with my uber-talented partners Danny, Nicola and Richard. Fool Me Once will be our fourth Netflix series together, and man, it never gets old," he said.

"Fool Me Once is a pulse-pounder - a shocking story of how secrets and deceit have the power to bring people together while simultaneously tearing them apart. I can’t wait to see how this dream cast brings these characters to life."

It's understandable that Netflix viewers have been so excited for the release of Fool Me Once, as Coben's previous series have received critical acclaim.

Stay Close boasts an impressive 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, while Safe - starring Dexter favourite, Michael C. Hall - has a score of 71 percent.

Elsewhere, The Woods has a 89 percent score on the Tomatometer.

Away from Coben's work, there's a host of other new releases dropping on Netflix this month to ring in the new year.

Some of these include Dan Levy's Good Grief, another season of Love Is Blind (a Swedish edition), and Pete Davidson's newest Netflix special, Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli.
