Netflix adds Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield movie where sex scene gone wrong forced cameraman to turn around

Netflix have added the film, which saw an intimate scene go slightly wrong while filming

Netflix have added a hotly anticipated film to their catalogue, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield.

Whilst the movie is known by many for its heartbreaking narrative and stellar performances from the pair, others know it for a slightly embarrassing on-set mishap.

This came in the form of an intimate scene the pair filmed in which things went slightly wrong, forcing a cameraman to turn around and face the other way.

Considering this was a fake scene and there have been cameramen who’ve been paid to film movie stars genuinely going at it, it will surely raise question amongst viewers as to what could possibly have happened.

The film in question is called We Live in Time, and the pair’s scene went off the rails after they were unable to hear the calls for them to stop the scene.

The movie, added to Netflix over the weekend, saw the pair star as Almut and Tobias.

Tobias, played by Garfield, meets Almut, played by Pugh, in hospital as she accidentally runs him over with her car.

The film follows the pair’s love story, chronicling their journey from their unlikely meeting to married life to facing an overwhelming challenge together.

It was well received by fans when released, with a fan score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes complementing an IMDb score of 7/10, meaning viewers will be thrilled to find out it can now be streamed on Netflix.

Considering they have a child in the film, unsurprisingly, one particular scene features Almut and Tobias going at it.

Pugh and Garfield, however, did not hear director John Crowley calling ‘cut’ on the scene, leading to a very awkward moment.

Explaining in an interview with Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield stated that due to the intimate nature of the scene, it was filmed on a totally closed set.

He explained that the pair were ‘really, really nervous’ and that an intimacy co-ordinator had worked with them to choreograph a scene.

Garfield stated that the first scene filmed was after they were already married and so had to feel comfortable and intimate.

Whilst Crowley was in another room for the scene, Garfield and Pugh were in the room alone with a camera operator, the film’s Director of Photography Stuart Bentley, and a boom operator.

Garfield described the pair as ‘incredibly sweet’ and ‘so English’.

Describing the experience, Garfield said: “The scene becomes passionate as we’ve choreographed it and we get into it as it were. We go a little bit further than we were meant to just because we haven’t heard cut and it’s feeling safe.”

He stated that at one point they realised it has gone far longer than they expected, describing looking up saying: “In the corner is Stuart and our boom operator. Stuart has the camera by his side and is turned into the wall in the corner with his head down.”

Garfield said the pair told the director he ‘had to say cut louder’, however, stated that the incident demystified awkwardness around the sex scenes on set.

Though he admitted Pugh said it was ‘the most cringe f**king thing’ in her life.

We Live in Time is available to watch on Netflix in the UK now.
