Viewers have been left in stitches after they clocked a hilariously x-rated 'beach off' gag towards the end of the new Barbie trailer, which dropped this afternoon (Tuesday 4 April).

Watch it here:

"To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place," a tagline from Warner Bros says.

"Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken."

The new trailer, set to The Beach Boys' 'Fun, Fun, Fun', shows Barbie (Margot Robbie) and her pals having precisely that.

At one point, she's surprised to see Ken (Ryan Gosling) in the back seat of her pink convertible, asking him: "What are you doing here?"

He replies with a smile: "I'm coming with ya!"

Exasperated, Barbie then says: "Did you bring your rollerblades?"

Ken suddenly produces a pair of bright yellow rollerblades, saying pointedly: "I literally go nowhere without them."

But while the majority of the trailer is a family-friendly montage of smiles, sequins and A LOT of pink, towards the end we see a hint that the film could also provide some subtle, ahem, adult entertainment.

As the teaser draws to a close, we see two Kens (Gosling and Simu Liu) get into a 'beach off'.

"Looks like this beach was a little too much beach for you, Ken," Liu says.

"If I weren't severely injured I would beach you off right now, Ken," Gosling replies.

Liu then hits back: "I'll beach off with you any day, Ken."

The trailer features a tense 'beach off'.

A third Ken, played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, then jumps in to say anyone who wants to beach off Gosling's Ken has to 'beach me off first'.

Of course, we have no idea what they could possibly mean, but viewers seem to find the whole exchange highly amusing.

Commenting on the scene, one Twitter user said: "The beach off thing is making me giggle MORE THAN IT SHOULD."

Another wrote: "Ryan Gosling is going to WHAT to Simu Liu?"

Someone else said: "BRO. I cannot be the only one who thinks this movie looks entertaining af. If the jokes and soundtrack are as good as they were in this trailer, sign me up, Ken! #beachoff."

A fourth added: "#Barbie is winning best screenplay at the Oscars next year for Simu Liu saying 'I will beach both of you off at the same time'. I'm being so serious right now."

Barbie is released in cinemas on 21 July.
