Rob Reiner has received a posthumous Emmy nomination months after his tragic death.
Reiner has been nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role in The Bear.
Reiner starred in three episodes of the fourth season of the popular FX show playing restaurant consultant Albert Schnurr who mentored line cook Ebra (played by Edwin Lee Gibson).
The finale of the show, which aired in late June, paid tribute to Reiner by having Ebra use the famous ‘As you wish’ line from Reiner's 1980's classic The Princess Bride.

Speaking to PEOPLE last year, Reiner said it was Hollywood star Jamie Lee Curits who had encouraged him to take on the role in the hit show.
“She had told me she was on the seasons before, and then when I was asked to do it, I said, ‘I don’t know,’ and she said, ‘No, you’ve got to do it! It’s really fun!’” he said.

He added: “It was so much fun to do. “It’s fun to act, and I love acting because it’s no worries. You just show up and do your work.”
This is Reiner’s eighth Emmy nomination, and is the first performance-related Emmy nod for Reiner since 1978, for best supporting actor for his part in All in the Family.
Alongside his acting, Reiner is best known for his directing Hollywood favourites including Stand By Me andWhen Harry Met Sally, as well as producing.
Most recently, he received Emmy nominations in 2024 for directing and producing Albert Brooks: Defending My Life.
Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in their home in Brentwood, California in December 2025.
A spokesperson for the family confirmed the news of their deaths 'with profound sorrow' in a brief statement, which added: "We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time."
Their son Nick, 32, was subsequently arrested and charged with two separate counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances
Two months after his arrest, Nick pleaded not guilty.
A preliminary hearing has been set for September this year.
In April, the Reiners' other son Jake penned an emotional Substack post regarding the loss of his parents, detailing the pain of losing 'more than half' of his family in one night.
"We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable," he wrote.

"Nothing can prepare you for what it feels like to lose both parents instantly at the same time," he continued.
"We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable. Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the centre of it. It’s almost too impossible to process."
