The Man From Toronto (2022) only burst onto our screens five days ago, but it has already gone down as one of the hottest new Netflix releases to talk about among fans despite its grisly ratings.

Renowned American comedian Kevin Hart stars as Teddy Nilson, New York City’s biggest screw up, whose world collides with the globe’s greatest assassin, played by Woody Harrelson, when they wind up in the same Air BnB.

The film is also directed by Patrick Hughes who has previously worked on installments of the Hitman’s Bodyguard franchise. Written by Rob Fox and Chris Bremmer, the film was initially developed by Sony Pictures as an intended action-comedy for Jason Statham, but after Covid-19 delayed production, it was bought by Netflix.

Despite the film’s star-studded cast, who have featured in the likes of Venom (2018) and The Hunger Games (2012), the film has received some critical views since first airing on 24th June.

The Man From Toronto received a 5.7 star rating on IMDB, and a shocking 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Although it hasn't been obvious from the film's critical acclaim, the The Man From Toronto quickly became Netflix’s most streamed release over its launch weekend, earning the platform 53.8 million global hours in views.

So, considering The Man From Toronto’s incredibly mixed reviews and its initial success for Netflix, fans are left wondering whether there will be a sequel.

Will There Be A Sequel To The Man From Toronto?

Although Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed The Man From Toronto 2, the film’s Hollywood names mean that we could see the world’s most unlikely duo returning to our screens again soon.

Despite its negative reviews, The Man From Toronto landed itself among Netflix’s Top 10 within a matter of days, meaning a sequel could likely be on the cards to help boost the platform’s viewer engagement.

Considering the film’s chaotic finale, which sees Kevin Hart attempt to stop a political assassination and landing himself a new girlfriend, fans already have a rough idea of who would likely return for a sequel.

This includes the mismatched duo Hart and Harrelson, alongside their on-screen love interests Jasmine Matthews and Kaley Cuoco.

But, because Kevin Hart does not play the titular character, with Woody Harrelson filling in that role, fans are worried that the American comedian might not make a return for the potential sequel, however unlikely that may sound.

If Netflix does confirm a sequel for the new action-comedy franchise, fans can expect to see it launch in summer/autumn 2023. Considering filming started for The Man In Toronto in April 2020, but was delayed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, fans will hopefully not have to wait another 2 years for the next installment.
