Going on holiday is something that brings us Brits a bit of joy and sun every now and then.

But if your tried and tested favourite destination gets slandered online, it’s only natural to become a bit defensive.

A TikToker, Rickard Monckton, known as @rmonckton1986, caused chaos online when he posted his opinion about the very popular holiday hotspot.

Listing all of the reasons he didn’t enjoy his stay; he uploaded a series of videos describing his personal experience.

You can see what he had to say here:

“I've just come to Kuta and let me just show you what it's about because let me tell you now it is absolute carnage." he said.

“I don't like traffic so I'm in the worst location in the world and honestly Ubud was the same.

Adding that this was 'his experience, he went on to say: “Everyone else's experience may be different, but for me Bali is absolutely poo... Thailand absolutely p***** all over this place.”

After ranting about the traffic conditions in Kuta, Bali, Monckton went on to claim that it ‘stressed him out’ on his travels.

And some viewers were furious at his comments - with one person writing: “Thanks for coming to Bali island & pls don't comeback. We have enough Poo tourist as well”.

Another said: “Awww.. the way you said poo is so sweet.. anyway, Bali is a small island that meant for tourism, what did u expect? Thailand is bigger than Bali, don’t compare it.”

But some agreed with his opinion - with one person saying that they were Indonesian and 'didn't like the traffic'.

While another gave him a recommendation, writing: "You need to go up to Amed and Lovina up north lovely up there."

The next day, however, the TikToker uploaded a follow-up apology video to clear the air.

The traveller complained about traffic.

Calling the local people ‘lovely’ and stating that he meant no offence for his opinion, he said: “I just want to do an update on my previous video moaning about the traffic in Bali, I'm offending a lot of locals and that the last thing I want to do.

“You are beautiful, kind [and] caring people... All I was trying to say was that it's so busy here, it stresses me out because I hate traffic.

“I love and respect your country but it's just f****** hectic because I come here to chill.

“I know that's my decision and I made the wrong decision by coming to Kuta, so I apologise.”

And locals in the comments told the traveller that his 'apology was accepted' and that they could see where he was coming from.

But in his final update, captioned 'why is telling the truth now such a problem', Monckton wanted to 'tell you the truth about Bali, about it being poo and about the traffic'.

He later apologised in another video.

He said: “The places I visited were rubbish okay. So, to all you influencers that are taking the p*** out of people by lying to them, you should be ashamed of yourself."

According to the traveller, the supposed 'truth' is that Thailand is amazing and Bali was 'poo' is due to Thailand’s apparent ‘better road networks’.

And users were mixed about this - with some agreeing that opinions are subjective whilst others didn't appreciate his comments.

One person wrote: “Bali not like your country bro... YOUR COUNTRY MORE THAN POO.”

A second wrote that there would be 'good side of a place or even worse' everywhere you went.

A third said: “We Indonesians tried to warn tourists about Bali. They just won't listen.”

And someone else commented: "I agree with you Richard I didn't like the south or the traffic."
