'Disturbing' Scene In The Boys Finale Was Originally Banned From First Season

'Disturbing' Scene In The Boys Finale Was Originally Banned From First Season

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF THE BOYS

The eagerly-anticipated second season of The Boys landed on Amazon Prime Video on September 4 and one of the most disturbing moments has been saved for the grand finale.

It was deemed so bad in fact that the scene was actually supposed to be in the first season but was too graphic and got cut.

During a Reddit AMA, co-creator of the Amazon Original Eric Kripke, told fans: "There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said F**K NO, you have to cut.

"I couldn't quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but: Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles.

"He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling "I can do whatever I want" over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it!

"Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene. Amazon seemed to think it wasn't necessary. I thought it told me something about his psyche. To be clear, they've been great, that may have been the ONLY fight I lost in Season 1."

Final Trailer For The Boys Season Two Is Here

Despite originally getting to the red flag, the final episode of the second season - which concluded on Friday (9 October) - shows Homelander being sent over the edge and pleasuring himself on a New York City rooftop as he repeated the very phrase 'I can do whatever I want'... sound familiar?

Speaking to the LA Times, Kripke explained once again: "One funny side note about that rooftop scene is it was actually shot in Season 1. It was the one scene Amazon asked me to cut because they felt it went too far in the early days of the show.

"So in [the Season 2 finale] we actually had another moment for Homelander at the end, and Amazon gave us the note, 'It's probably just a little too ambiguous. Can you give us something with a little more punch?' 'I got just the idea!'"

It's not entirely clear whether the whole thing was reshot or whether the footage was used from the first time around.
