I'm A Celeb fans threaten to boycott show as Nigel Farage can avoid Bushtucker Trials

I'm A Celeb fans threaten to boycott show as Nigel Farage can avoid Bushtucker Trials

Some have asked why he's even going

This year's I'm A Celeb contestants have been spotted landing down under in the past couple of days, but news about one controversial campmate has viewers threatening to boycott the show.

The reality show is due to return to our screens this Sunday (19 November) with Ant and Dec hosting the latest crop of famous faces who think they're tough enough to survive in the jungle.

Some of this year's celebrity lineup include This Morning presenter, Josie Gibson, JLS singer Marvin Humes and Jamie Lynn Spears, who's the younger sister of legendary pop princess Britney Spears.

But, the show has been hit with controversy before the first episode has even aired by recruiting former UKIP leader and Brexiteer, Nigel Farage as a campmate, and they're reportedly paying him a whopping £1.5 million for it.

Ant and Dec have been hosting the reality show since 2002.

Fans of the show were infuriated by the divisive figure's casting and the show has already received more than 1,000 complaints

One person wrote on X: "ITV is a disgrace if they platform Farage the way they did Hancock last year."

And another said: "Why in god's f*****g name is Nigel Farage going in? I'm tired of these politicians attempting their redemption arcs .."

Ahead of the show, the 59-year-old revealed that he was to prove he's no 'mean-spirited, small-minded, nasty little Englander', believing that his decade-long campaign for the UK to leave Europe left him 'demonised' by the public.

But, at least we can vote for him to take part in all the show's infamous Bushtucker trials, right? Wrong.

It has now been reported that Farage won't have to participate in all of the trials.

A source told the Daily Mail a back injury from a PR stunt gone wrong likely provides him with a medical exemption from some of the gruelling tasks.

They said: "It will be a miracle if you see Nigel jumping out of any aircraft."

And, fans of the show are understandably fuming, taking to X to write: "What's the point of him going?"

ITV declined to comment when approached by LADbible.

In other I'm A Celeb news, earlier this week, fans were left baffled by a remark made by another 2023 campmate.

In a clip shared online ahead of the new series, the campmates introduced themselves, with Jamie Lynn Spears saying: “I’m best known for being an actress and a singer."

But, while Jamie Lynn is known for performing — staring in Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 as well as the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias, while also releasing a handful of singles — it seems as though some folks reckon she’s actually best known for being Britney Spears' little sister.

One person wrote on X: “OK Jamie Lynn, but is that *really* what you’re best known for?” Ouch!
