Sir Mo Farah left his I'm A Celebrity... campmates in tears after explaining how he was trafficked into the UK and made to work as a domestic servant.

The gold medal-winning Olympian, who is part of the current All Stars line-up, made the heartbreaking admission about his childhood during last night's (9 April) episode, during a heart-to-heart with his fellow campmates.

Asked by one of his campmates about how he ended up moving to the UK, the Somalian-born runner explained that his mother had struggled to look after him and his siblings after their father died and decided to send him to live with a relative.

"I was living in Somalia when I was young, and then the Civil War kicked in, and I lost my dad in the war. So, when that happened, my mum...it was madness," he began.

"She couldn't deal with us; there were eight of us, eight," he continued. "I had a relative of mine living in Holland at that moment, it was just like: 'Yeah, we're gonna go see a relative of mine'. But it wasn't the case."

Farah then went on to explain that he'd travelled with a woman who he wasn't related to, believing he'd meet up with his relative 'on the other side'.

Unfortunately, the woman took him to the UK to work as a domestic servant and look after her family.

"I was child trafficked into the UK," he added.

"The lady, honestly, for me was just to do chores, look after her kids. Like a maid, yeah."

Farah also explained that his real name was not Mohamed Farah, but instead Hussein Abdi Kahin, with the former being the name of another boy whom he travelled to the UK in place of.

The runner's life story left the other campmates visibly emotional, with former Gogglebox member Scarlett Moffat breaking down in tears towards the end. "Mo, that's awful! That's horrific," she told the Olympian.

Meanwhile, another campmate can be heard calling his story 'inspirational', adding: "Look at him now, Knight of the Realm."

This isn't the first time Farah has spoken openly about his experience as a victim of child trafficking, with the 43-year-old disclosing the story to the public for the first time in his 2022 documentary The Real Mo Farah.

During the programme, Farah explained that he was separated from his family at around 'eight or nine years old' and forced to do domestic housework after the woman who trafficked him to Europe destroyed the contact details of his relative.

Before being trafficked, he and his twin brother had lived with an uncle in neighbouring Djibouti.

After years of working as a domestic servant for the family, he was allowed to enter secondary school, claiming to be a refugee from Somalia before finally confiding in a PE teacher.

He was ultimately placed with another Somali family by Social Services, which allowed him to pursue his athletic career and later obtain British citizenship.
