If you watched the first two seasons of this 'gritty' crime drama, then you'll know just how exciting it is to *finally* get some news on season three's potential release date.

The show - which has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score - is expected to be released later this year and fans are so excited.

The Irish drama follows the fictional Kinsella crime family in Dublin, who are increasingly at odds with a powerful drug cartel.

Game of Thrones' Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds star as rival gang members in the show, called Kin, which is co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly.

Meanwhile, the impressive cast also includes Clare Dunne, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Emmett J. Scanlan (Fool Me Once), and Sam Keeley.

The first season is available on BBC iPlayer and many Brits have admitted to binging the lot in one weekend.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that the second season would be dropping on the platform very soon, with fans eagerly awaiting a release date from BBC.

The second season of Kin is set to drop on BBC.

"The Kinsellas are back and the stakes are higher than ever," said Jennifer Ebell, EVP of EMEA Sales and Acquisitions at FIFTH SEASON.

"Season two of this family crime drama is explosive and we are pleased the BBC joins the growing number of our international partners."

"All I will say is if you found the first series exciting and engrossing, just wait until you see the twists and turns in series two!" Head of Programme Acquisition Sue Deeks said.

She added: "Anchored by a tremendous cast, Kin is a powerful and intense story of love, grief, family and crime, and its devastating ramifications."

While RTÉ has not yet announced a date, it's expected that the third season will premiere this year.

Many believe this could happen in September, based on the previous two seasons also launching at the start of autumn.

It's expected the third season will pick up where the second left off *major spoilers ahead* after Frank kills Bren and takes his own life.

And fans are so excited for more episodes, with one writing on X (formerly Twitter): "The end of season 2 #KIN... I need season 3 NOW!!"

While another said: "Anyone know when season 3 of Kin is out? Smashed in a weekend."

And a third added: "What a show KIN is!! Finally caught up, going to need Season 3 ASAP!"

Someone else wrote: "Just finished Kin. Tremendous viewing. When the hell is season 3 out?"

As soon as there's an official date, you'll be the first to know.

LADbible has contacted RTÉ for comment.
