The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas has spoken out on the prospect of the hugely popular Channel 4 show making a comeback after word of a revival gathered plenty of steam.
While there's been talk of a comeback on the cards for some time now, we finally have a bit of concrete proof that there will be more to come from the cast and crew of The Inbetweeners after their second movie released 11 years ago.
It turns out a deal has been struck between between Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions, the company founded by show creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, which 'paves the way for the return of the hit comedy title'.
In what form that'll take, we don't know as of yet, but Morris and Beesly announced: "It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh, friends)."

That sounds like the core quad of Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison) will be coming back, and Thomas has been talking about it recently.

Speaking to The Sun on behalf of Quizlet, the Inbetweeners star said he was absolutely up for being back for a reboot even if nobody really knew what form that would take just yet.
"I feel enormously close to all those people and, obviously, I love spending time with them," he said of the chance to get back onto projects with his fellow cast members.
"If there was an opportunity to spend more time with them in any capacity, I’d love that... that’s pretty much all I can say."

Calling The Inbetweeners 'a brilliantly written comedy', Thomas said if there's anyone he trusts to bring it back then it's Morris and Beesly as he explained 'if it was a case of doing more I do have faith in Iain and Damon'.
He'd spoken last year to say that 'talks' on bringing the show back had taken place and discussed what that might mean and whether it would be a film or a new series.
Someone else who'd be interested in coming back is Greg Davies, who played the 'lunatic giant' of a headteacher Mr Gilbert.
The main characters might be too old for school these days but the second movie had Mr Gilbert back and hooking up with Will's mum (Belinda Stewart-Wilson) so if he's still around that's how he could be in it.
Davies was recently asked by Absolute Radio if he'd be up for a comeback and he jokingly said he'd do it 'as long as the cheese is alright' before explaining that 'of course' he'd do it if asked to come back as the show 'has a special place in my heart'.

However, he's hoping the characters won't have grown up too much as he said The Inbetweeners was 'full of characters who are delusional to a large extent'.
“It’s a show about delusion; Simon is naïve and romantic and thinks that he’s going to have this love story; and Will is pompous, he’s intellectually delusional; Neil’s obviously stupid; and Jay’s clearly delusional... he thinks that he’s this kind of sex god when actually he’s just this very vulnerable young man," Thomas explained.
"When you get older, your delusions fall away, you look at life as it is. It means you get into less stupid situations I suppose, also the challenges get bigger; you can make larger mistakes when you get older."
We'll have to wait and see what form an Inbetweeners revival would take, but Thomas is definitely up for it, as he recently told the Daily Mirror he 'loves being around' his co-stars and he's 'taken every opportunity to work with one of that group ever since the show ended'.

Over the years, many involved with The Inbetweeners have thought a comeback would 'never happen' and it would be a show that had its time, was great and ended.
