A body language expert has weighed in on the newest twist on The Traitors in which a ‘secret Traitor’ was revealed by Claudia, stating whose behaviour they noticed shifting.

The twist has completely upended The Traitors as now viewers at home have the same experience of having to try and figure out who is being suspicious.

Season four of the show has debuted to massive numbers for the BBC with 6.4 million overnight viewers and a peak of 7 million, the biggest debut in the history of The Traitors, including the celebrity spin-off.

Claudia picked three traitors, Stephen, Rachel, and Hugo, however there is a fourth secret traitor pulling the strings from above them. That secret traitor has even more to hide because even the traitors are trying to find out who they are – and because they are given the massively influential responsibility of picking the shortlists the traitors kill someone from each night.

So the question on the lips of basically every viewer is: who is the secret traitor?

A body language expert thinks that Judy is the most likely candidate to be the 'secret traitor'

Body language Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of OLBG, exclusively told LADbible that Judy stood out to him as a possible secret traitor.

He said: "My initial instinct was that Judy stood out. While she was speaking with several people, I observed a noticeable shift from her baseline behaviour. Her breathing became more rapid, and there was an increase in her movement rate, both of which can indicate heightened stress or cognitive load.”

He added: “We also saw repeated bilateral shoulder shrugs. Although these are often used to signal indifference or uncertainty, in this context, they appeared more defensive, suggesting underlying pressure rather than genuine neutrality.”

Finally Darren added that ‘displayed several hand-to-mouth gestures’ saying: “[These], are commonly associated with self-soothing. Taken together, these behavioural changes initially drew my suspicion toward her as the most likely secret traitor."

Fans noticed Judy ‘doing a Linda’ in the first episode

If Judy is the secret Traitor she has not been doing a great job of hiding it so far, but that may be combined with the fact that she is hiding from the others that Roxy is her daughter.

One fan noticed that Judy turned around when Claudia said ‘Traitors’, echoing the iconic head turn of season 3’s Linda.

Another fan replied to say though they weren’t convinced, adding: “Nah, I think a lot of this is just how they edited it. I also think the episode focused far too much on Judi for her to be the secret traitor.

“I just think the editors wouldn't have had everyone yelling her name every other word. Now her daughter? Maybe.”

If Judy's body language gave away her role as a secret Traitor, her daughter had a major gaffe which gave away the fact that they were related before they told us.

Roxy, during the challenge yelled: ‘Stop, Mum, stop’. Here’s hoping for her sake the others aren’t as observant as the season three faithfuls who picked up on Linda’s head turn.

The Traitors returns tonight, January 2, on BBC One at 8pm.
