Traitors fan theory predicts who will be murdered next after viewers pick up on secret pattern

Fans think they've got it all figured out

Warning: This article contains spoilers for last night's episode of The Traitors.

The new series of The Traitors has gotten off to a fantastic start and fans are more than invested than ever.

Thanks to new roles, secret relationships and some half-decent Faithfuls, viewers can't take their eyes off the BBC series, which has become a huge hit since first hitting our screens back in 2022.

After a huge showdown between Traitors Fiona and Rachel on Friday night's (9 January) episode, many will be counting down the days until it resumes next week.

Amid the abundance of theories that come with The Traitors, this season has seen many suggest that the entire cast could in fact know each other in some way, partly due to a family tree which has regularly been on camera near the castle's entrance.

We've already had two relationships revealed, and eagle-eyed viewers who tune in to The Traitors: Uncloaked reckon there might be a few more before we get to the finale later this month.

It's thanks to the show hosted by Ed Gamble that fans have come up with another theory, which they think might just confirm who will be the next player to be murdered.

One fan wrote on X: "So I worked out a theory last night, and I didn’t tweet it because I didn’t want to spoil tonight’s show but, alas, it came true. Regarding Uncloaked, their guests keep spoiling the show, and I’m tweeting this so they hopefully see it and stop it!

"They have themed guests, and the pattern is too obvious. For example, Mark was on last night after Amanda got banished by chance, because he was banished by chance too. The other guest was Fozia, murdered face to face… just like Maz.

"I knew Fiona would go tonight when I saw the guests were two ex Welsh contestants and a Welsh traitor. They had that secret couple on last week, when the other secret relationship was revealed, too. It’s crazy to me that such a well sealed show is putting results up there in plain sight?!"

Next week's guests are Clare Balding and Maddy Smedley (Traitors season one), both of whom were eventually banished because of their suspicions of Traitors, and fans reckon that Jessie will be murdered for the same reason.

She has long suspected Stephen because of the library room theory, although Fiona's banishment on last night's show might well be enough to steer her in another direction.

However, at the end of Friday's episode, we also saw Matthew ask the Traitors who they would kill next, and after they said Jessie, he also suggested that they kill her and then 'seduce him' to become a Traitor.

So it's definitely plausible that Jessie could be one of the next contestants to go but she isn't the only Traitor hunter in the castle, with Harriet establishing herself as one of the best Faithfuls in the history of the show, and she would also fit in with Clare and Maddie on next week's Uncloaked.

The next episode of The Traitors will air at 8pm on Wednesday (14 January) on BBC One and iPlayer.
