Wednesday is on track to become the most watched English-language series in Netflix history

If it keeps going as it is the gothic youth series will swipe the crown from Stranger Things.

Tim Burton's Addams Family reboot Wednesday is on track to be crowned the 'most watched English-language series of all time' on Netflix.

The Netflix hit has already swiped the accolade from the fourth season of Stranger Things over a seven-day period.

But, if things keep going the way going, then the new series could clinch an even bigger throne.

So far, Wednesday has had a total of 752.5 hours viewed since it premiered on November 23.

It's currently sitting at number three on the charts as the most-watched English-language TV title for the streaming service.

To take the 28 day record, Stranger Things 4 is top of the pops with 1.35 billion hours viewed in its first 28 days.

Sitting at number two is Netflix's true crime smash hit Monster — Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story with 856.2 million hours watched.

There are still two weeks to go for Wednesday to close the gap and nick the trophy from Stranger Things season four for the 28 day viewership rankings.

So, the series needs to have the same number of people watching in the second fortnight as the first.

It's already sitting pretty compared to Stranger Things 4 two weeks after its release.

Like Wednesday, the sci-fi '80s-nostalgia hit sat at number two on Netflix's most popular list in its second week of release.

There was one big difference, though.

Ortega in Wednesday.
Netflix

The show, which follows Eleven and her crew as they fight the evil creatures trying to break through from the Upside Down, had 621.8 million hours by week two.

So that's already lagging behind Wednesday, which has a further 130.7 million views on Stranger Things 4.

Things are looking good for the gothic young adult hit.

Honestly though, with the show coming from the brilliant mind of Tim Burton, who is known for his dark, German expressionism sort of style, we'd expect no less.

If you haven't seen it yet, shut your laptop, fling your phone out of the window, or quickly expel whatever other device you may be using to read this story.

Get up, turn on your telly and put Netflix's Wednesday on.

The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally-infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a teenager at Nevermore Academy.

She's just discovered she has psychic abilities, which she is now trying to master.

Oh, and she's trying to put an end to a killing spree that has terrorised the local town, all the while solving another supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago.

Plus, it has a killer cast.

Alongside Ortega, the Addams Family cast is completed by Catherine Zeta-Jones' as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

It's seriously good viewing, and it'll have you reaching for some black emo eyeliner in no time at all.
