Why Does Kanye West Call Pete Davidson ‘Skete’?

Why Does Kanye West Call Pete Davidson ‘Skete’?

Kanye West’s apparent dislike of Pete Davidson has been kept as anything but private.

Kanye West’s apparent dislike of Pete Davidson has been kept as anything but private, with the rapper having shared a series of bizarre ranting posts on his Instagram earlier this year.

Tensions have been rising for the pair ever since West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, began to date the comedian, with the 44-year-old sharing a disturbing music video that shows him burying what looks to be Davidson. Kardashian and Davidson have since split up.

But why does Kanye West call Pete Davidson ‘Skete’? Well, LADbible has enlisted the help of mental health therapist and hypnotherapist Zoë Clews to help debunk the reasoning behind West’s ambiguous nickname.

Keep reading for all the info about this nickname.

Why does Kanye call Pete ‘Skete’?

Kanye West has taken aim at Davidson, who was dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, in a number of posts in which he appeared to refer to the comedian as ‘Skete’.

More specifically, on 14th February, Ye shared an image from the 2001 Baby Boy film, where Ving Rhames has Tyrese Gibson in a chokehold with the caption: “UPON MY WIFE’S REQUEST PLEASE NOBODY DO ANYTHING PHYSICAL TO SKETE IM GOING TO HANDLE THE SITUATION MYSELF [sic].”

The rapper did not indicate whether ‘Skete’ is his nickname for Davidson or even why he seemed to call him that, but the post appeared to reference him.

Kanye West has recently taken aim at Davidson, who is now dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, in a number of posts in which he appeared to refer to the comedian as ‘Skete' (Instagram @kanyewest).

As for why West appears to call Davidson ‘Skete’, Clews believes “the obvious reason for Kanye, or Ye as he is now known, using ‘Skete’ in this context is so that he can trash [talk] Pete Davidson without specifically identifying him and avoid any potential legal ramifications, such as defamation, for example.”

As for why West is now focusing “a concerning” amount of negative attention on Davidson on social media, Clews, who founded Zoe Clews & Associates explains that although he has been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, it could rather be due to his “rampant narcissistic qualities”.

“He is an uncontained individual with a monstrously voracious ego and an unaddressed Messiah Complex (which is the desire and compulsion to redeem or save others or the world, or harbouring the delusion of being divine), and he unfortunately and unwisely chooses to process his emotions on social media rather than taking a more constructive and helpful approach to his mental health by venting his feelings to a therapist or in a safe space.”

She adds: “Rather than take responsibility for his part in the end of the marriage and process the painful feelings that he needs to heal, he’s looking to offload the blame elsewhere and he’s decided that Pete is that somewhere.

“It’s another classic symptom of narcissism - an inability to take responsibility for your own actions and instead blame others.”

What does ‘Skete’ Davidson mean?

According to Urban Dictionary, ‘Skete’ means: “A pale, skinny white dude who’s banging your ex”.

Another entry for the phrase suggests that ‘Skete’ was “probably derived from the slang word ‘sket’.”

“A sket is, as defined by this dictionary, essentially a wh*** with no concern for morals. Sleeps around with whoever, doesn’t care if they are in a relationship,” the entry continued.

A different definition of the word on the site, however, is slang for the verb ‘to ejaculate’ - which is probably not what West is referring to (but you never know!).

Some fans, however, believe the nickname could relate to Davidson and Kardashian’s “‘ship” name, like ‘Kimye’ would have referred to West and Kardashian.
