Maccies' annual Christmas menu is nearly upon us and it includes the return of its 'best ever burger'.

The fast-food chain has announced that the familiar fan favourite is set to make a comeback as part of their new menu.

And no, we're not talking about The Big Arch or the Steakhouse Stack - both great burgers in their own right.

There's also no sign of the McSpicy X Frank's RedHot burger, which would sort of make sense given how cold it's getting.

Instead, we're getting something 'better than a Big Mac' with the revamped Big Tasty and its older brother, the double Big Tasty.

For the first time, McDonald's fans can order the dish as a single or a double because the beef patties have increased to the size of a quarter pounder.

As reported by the Metro, there are even more changes to the burger - white cheddar will replace emmental cheese, the old square lettuce slices will be swapped for shredded lettuce, and it'll all be encased in a toasted bun.

There will also be an option to add bacon to your lettuce, onions, tomato and Big Tasty sauce.

"The Big Tasty has always been about bold, craveable flavour – and this year we’ve taken it up a notch," Thomas O’Neill, the head of menu at McDonald’s UK&I, told the outlet.

"It’s still about that unique, smoky sauce fans know and love, but now with more ways to enjoy it.

"And no matter how you have it, each Big Tasty is crafted with even more flavour in mind – from the 100 percent British and Irish quarter pounder beef patty, to the rich, creamy white cheddar cheese, every bite is packed with serious flavour satisfaction."

You'll be able to get your hands on it on when the new Xmas menu comes out, which is hopefully before santa decides to put you on the naughty list.

But one new dish the kids will be able to try from tomorrow (19 November) is a Mayo Chicken Happy Meal including one of the 12 The Elf on the Shelf plush toys or storybook.

"Alongside 12 plush Santaverse character toys or an exclusive book from The Elf on the Shelf Santaverse, the Mayo Chicken Happy Meal is the perfect bite-sized treat for little elves in the making," Maccies said.

"And don’t forget the ‘Reindeer Treats’ - our carrot sticks are getting a festive makeover with special packaging to fuel Santa’s helpers throughout the season.

"McDonald’s restaurants nationwide will be complete with character visits, face painting, and themed activity pages to celebrate the spirit of Christmas."

The full new menu is rumoured to drop very soon.
