McDonald's have responded to claims that they've been putting up the prices on certain menu items.
Sadly, we live in a world where pretty much everything is just getting steadily more expensive forever, so it's to be expected that the price of a Maccies wouldn't stay the same forever.
It seems that the time for a price rise is now, as The Sun has been picking through some of the prices on the McDonald's menu and found that certain things are quite a bit more expensive than they used to be.

They say that if you want a Steakhouse Stack it'll be another £5.99 for the burger by itself, 50p more than it was last year, or £7.99 for it as a meal, which is 80p higher than 12 months ago.
They've also claimed that the Biscoff McFlurry is now 30p more expensive at £2.29, while the Mayo Chicken Burger is now £1.39.

Responding to claims that the menu had got more expensive, McDonald's told LADbible that with ingredients costing more, the prices had to rise concurrently.
They said: "We refuse to compromise on the quality of our ingredients – and that means when these ingredients cost more, we have to review our prices.

"Raising some prices means we are able to stand by our quality commitments, like our beef patties being made from 100% British and Irish beef or our Chicken McNuggets being made from 100% chicken breast. We know how much these mean to our customers.
"Providing value remains an absolute priority. We continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every customer has a value offering that works for them.
"This includes weekly app offers that sit alongside always on value offers like our incredibly popular Breakfast Deal, Wrap of the Day, and of course, our Saver Menu."

As annoying as it is, if the cost of ingredients really has gone up, then companies that sell you food are going to pass on the rises to you instead of trying to shoulder the additional costs.

It's also the reason why fellow fast food chain Five Guys has a reputation for being so expensive, at least according to them.
Their boss said they 'raise our prices to reflect whatever our food costs are', so the more expensive your meal is to make, the more expensive it is for you to buy it.
It's not a great thing to happen, but the days of a Freddo being 10p are a long way gone.
More's the pity.
