Woman finds McDonald's coupons from 2015 and people are stunned after comparing prices

Nothing is safe from inflation in the UK!

If seeing the price of a Freddo has you breaking out in hives, then I'd suggest you look away now.

The price of a Freddo has almost become a byword for the direct impact of inflation on prices here in the UK, as well as the topic of endless millennial ire.

But it turns out that everyone's favourite chocolate frog isn't the only thing which has been impacted by inflation.

After you grew out of Freddos (which I know is never, but bear with me), one might have graduated to heading down to McDonald's for light refreshments of a box of chicken nuggets, fries, and a McFlurry of a Saturday afternoon.

McDonald's made history when it increased the price of a basic cheeseburger from 99p to £1.19 in 2022 - this was the first time a basic cheeseburger cost more than £1 at the outlet.

There was also that fact that several fast food chains in the UK, including Burger King and McDonald's, had offers on their receipts, as well as in newspapers and on the back of bus tickets.

Ah, it was a simpler time.

Well, someone took to Twitter recently after finding some of these old fast food vouchers while having a clear out at their house and served up some good old nostalgia on Twitter.

Writing on the app: "Having a clear out... we use to be a proper country," the poster revealed a McDonald's coupon from 2015 which shows the unbelievable offer of either a Big Mac, McChicken Sandwich or Fillet-O-Fish & medium fries for just £1.99.

The poster then showed a Burger King coupon, and while its not clear which date it was from, the offer spoke for itself - either a Bacon Double Cheeseburger & small fries, chicken strips & a small drink, Big King & small fries, or Chicken Royale & small fries for... yes, you guessed it! £1.99.

It turns out those bus ticket vouchers turned up a lot of memories for people as many took to the comments to share their disbelief.

One person replied: "This was the sh*t! I never bought a full meal, just used these tickets and a drink from Poundland."

Another recalled how the vouchers were almost currency in school, writing: "I collected those mf like medals in secondary school."

The choice was endless at Burger King!

And a third posted: "Was expecting it to be from the 90s but this is only 2015! WTH happened."

Another recalled how the vouchers had been a huge help for them at college: "The way these got me through college, I will never forget."

For comparison, today in 2023 a medium Big Mac Meal costs £6.89 to order via a delivery app - not including the delivery charge - while a Whopper at Burger King costs £7.09. That's more than three times the offer price from 2015.

McDonald's confirmed to LADBible that the offer on bus tickets has not run since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, there is an offer on receipts where customers can fill out a survey to claim a £1.99 meal offer, and there are also offers available via their app.
