There’s no doubt about it, our four-legged friends can often get themselves into quite a mess.

Whether they’ve been out in the park for a daily walk, or decided to bellyflop a muddy puddle, one thing you don't want is to have them tracking those dirty over your new rug.

However, a rather ingenious product could make cleaning them that much easier...

You’ve probably never considered cleaning your dog with a pressure washer but people have been raving about a ‘genius’ little gadget which works great on dog’s paws and coats.

Usually priced at £139.99, the Kärcher OC3 Foldable can be used on a number of different surfaces, items and types of dirt.

And according to the German homeware brand, the cone-spray nozzle is 'ideal for more sensitive cleaning like dog paws'.

But is it safe to use this cleaning device on your dog? And what do shoppers think of it?

How does it work?

You might be familiar with high pressure jet washers which get to work breaking down and cleaning even the dirtiest and most discoloured patio tiles, brickwork and garden furniture. But this on-the-go option has a significantly lower pressure, without compromising on its cleaning abilities.

It does come with a flat nozzle, which allows you to wash dirt away easily, as well as the cone-spray nozzle which will come in handy when dealing with your dog.

Is it safe to clean your dog with a pressure washer?

Tyla spoke to Adem Fehmi, dog behaviourist for Barking Heads and he had a few recommendations for those thinking about using such a machine on their dogs.

He explained that "lots of care and attention should be taken if you intend to introduce this cleaning method to your dog".

He also notes: "Should your dog show any signs of discomfort, stress or other negative reactions, the use of this device should be stopped.”

Adem adds that “before attempting to use this device you should consider carefully your dog’s experience of being groomed and their individual temperament and confidence as a whole. Even if you believe that your dog would be happy to be groomed in this manner, I would always advise introducing something new like this gradually, over time, and of course positively in order to build your dog’s trust and confidence.”

What are customers saying?

Shoppers have taken to the Kärcher website to share how it has worked for them and their four-legged friends.

One wrote: “I've only started using the Kärcher, what a godsend it is for cleaning my dogs after muddy walks. I was recommended it by a dog walker, who had purchased other dog cleaning machines. But the Kärcher wins hands down.”

While another outlined: “As a dog walker, I bought this to wash muddy paws and I haven't been disappointed. There is enough but not too much pressure and it's easy to use. I do need to take extra water bottles with me but that's not really an issue. Great little pressure washer.”

A third shopper added: “I have had the OC3 for over a week and tested it on some very muddy dogs. It’s a game changer. Highly recommended for anyone that spends a lot of time in the countryside over the wet season. It’s cleaned my dogs, my wellies and waterproofs and even my van. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, comes with everything you need to get going.”

The Kärcher OC3 Foldable is available from the brand’s official website
