Meghan and Harry accused of ‘hypocrisy’ after first social media post since UK return

Well, Meghan and Harry are officially back in the UK and so with that comes the picking a part of everything they do here.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are living here now as non-working royals with a letter sent on behalf of the King saying they will remain ‘private citizens’.

And with their return comes the complaining over, well, it seems their very existence. Some people really seem to have a problem with the pair and as Meghan shared a glimpse into their life on social media, they’ve now been accused of ‘hypocrisy’ due to making things 'public'.

The actor shared a video of the family to Instagram for the first time since they returned from the US, with heart and UK flag emojis included throughout.

While their faces are not shown, their children Archie and Lilibet feature in the montage.

At just over 30 seconds, the video uses Wham!’s ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ and starts with the couple walking along a country path.

Meghan turns to say ‘come on, you’ as the post features mini clips of their UK life - causing this 'hypocrisy' argument over their privacy.

Lilibet, five, is shown from behind riding her bike at one point while her brother Archie, seven, is running along.

A child’s feet can also be seen warming up at a fire while their black Labrador retriever also features a fair bit.

We also see the kids out on a fishing boat with Harry as the family appear to enjoy time in the countryside.

While we don’t see the kids’ faces, we do hear them speaking a little and see them play.

Both Harry and Meghan have been very clear about wanting privacy for their children and while they do occasionally appear on social media, their faces are not typically shown.

And while their cousins, the more immediate heirs to the throne, have photos and updates shared of them, we do not know where the family are living or what school Archie and Lilibet are attending.

However, some people think this video from Meghan is hypocritical and have slammed her for sharing it.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said to Page Six: “If privacy is genuinely the priority, the most effective strategy is simple… stop broadcasting your family life to millions of strangers.”

She claimed each ‘hyper-curated glimpse’ of the children and their life brings in ‘more attention, more questions and more interest’ in what they are doing and where they are.

“You cannot deliberately feed that machine and then act astonished or outraged when people want to know more,” Schoefield slammed.

And she went on to call out Harry for supposedly ‘participating in packaging portions of his own children’s childhood for public consumption’ after speaking out on the damage of media attention.

Meghan has the comments switched off on Instagram but it’s fair to say there is a division in the reaction to her video, which does not directly disclose their location or show the kids’ faces.
