A guy who’s spent almost a year training just one trap has provided an update on how he’s getting on.
Known as the 'crooked man' (@thecrookedman10) on social media, he’s determined to shut down looksmaxxing by doing the complete opposite.
As looksmaxxing encourages people to 'look their absolute best' and 'maximise their physical appearance', this content creator instead wants to become the king of ‘looksminimizing’.
"’Why does the one trap guy work out one trap?’ It's pretty simple. I was scrolling TikToks in my Ferrari, and I kept getting these looksmaxing TikToks," he explained last year, aged 19.

"And they were like, 'Do this, do that. You'll look more attractive. You'll get more women'.
"And it's like, people have that problem? I have the opposite problem.

"I get so many DMS, I don't even have time to get through them all.
"So I was like, 'If I have the opposite problem, then I need the opposite solution. What's the opposite of looksmaxing? Looksminimizing'."
In a video update, the influencer is seen benching weights lopsided, as well as performing lopsided pull ups.
He writes in the text overlay: “Day 320 training one side,” looking as shredded as ever.
Lifters usually train the trapezius muscle, a large muscle group in the upper back and neck, to get that Brock Lesnar sort of look.

However, you'll need to be doing loads of shrugs, barbell deadlifts and, most importantly, have fantastic genes.
People online have applauded the crooked man for work ethic, whilst not fully understanding the point.
"Doesn't make any sense!!! I love it," one viewer admitted.
As another joked: "Soo glad I finally know why you weren't replying to my DM's!!!! Makes soo much sense now!"
"I like the form of his trap so much that I started training mine one at a time," a third admitted.
Why be a trend setter when you can be a trend finisher?
The problem with training just one trap
Dr Suhail Hussain told LADbible that there 'may be some short-term positives' to the guy's approach, but warned that anything good was likely to be 'outweighed by the risks'.
He said: "As a doctor, I’d be concerned about the clear musculoskeletal imbalance this man is developing.
"Overdeveloping one muscle group, especially to such an extreme degree can lead to a range of health issues: spinal misalignment, joint strain, compensatory injuries in surrounding muscles and even chronic pain.
"The body is designed for symmetry and balance, so distorting that through disproportionate hypertrophy risks long-term orthopaedic problems."
Dr Hussain said that 'The Crooked Man' could benefit in the short-term from 'increased strength or function in that one muscle', but the 'range of health issues' didn't make the benefits worth it.
