Footage exposing reality of Egypt pyramids could put tourists off from going

It may be on your bucket list, but will this video dissuade you?

A lot of people want to visit the pyramids at some point in their lives, but this video could dissuade you to stay tucked up at home instead.

The massive structures were constructed thousands of years ago by the Ancient Egyptians, and remain as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The pyramids attract a lot of attention, so naturally people take videos and some make TikToks while they're there, though not many are like this one.

User @touchdalight, also known as Carmie Sellitto, posted a video that has gone viral with over 1.1 million views on the social media app that details why you SHOULDN'T visit the landmark.

But you know what they say, don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do and all that jazz.

The content creator has dreamed up three persuasive reasons on why you shouldn't bother visiting the almost 140-metre tall structures that were built when mammoths still roamed the earth.

In the caption, he writes: "You need to be seriously careful if you come here."

Firstly, the number of steps you have to take and the climbing required might tire you out, as Sellitto explains: "You have to climb on your knees for about 30-40 minutes. It gets tiring, it's like an obstacle course."

He shows how narrow it is inside, leading to Sellitto's friend hitting her head in a walkway that is through a very narrow tunnel, described as 'quite dangerous'.

Also in the clip are other tourists ducking and manoeuvring through the tight spaces, with many grabbing onto the railings on the side.

His second reason is that 'there's no air con inside', though as valid as this is, I think, I THINK, that air conditioning hadn't been invented around 4000 years ago.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

But he did end the point by joking: "Come on, we're living in 2023."

The pyramids feature very narrow walkways.

Maybe the installation of A/C in the historic structures might be a step too far in terms of messing with the structure.

Finally, he said that it is 'actually so epic you won't experience anything like it again'.

A completely fair point, as if you've been waiting this long to visit them and you're finally done and dusted with the experience, you'll never feel like that again.

We're still learning things about how the pyramids were built, and of course there have been secret chambers which lay dormant for thousands of years and have only just been uncovered.

It seems clear they'll continue to fascinate us for years to come, so you might as well go yourself and see what the fuss is all about.
