Keeping an affair under wraps for any length of time sounds difficult, let alone 14 years, but a woman who has managed to maintain an illicit affair for that length of time shared her rules to abide by not to get caught.
We at LADbible Towers would probably want to advise you against infidelity, but a woman named Caroline explained that she had made it to 50 and managed to pull the wool over her family's eyes for 14 years.
She had a husband and two children but as far as Caroline (possibly not her real name) is concerned they don't know diddly squat about her bonking a married man for such a long time.
Speaking to The Sun she said this other man, 'Dan' (also possibly not his real name) as her 'soulmate' and thinks she won't ever be caught by those who would think themselves her nearest and dearest.

That's because she's developed eight rules she swears by to avoid detection.

Eight rules to keep a 14-year affair secret
One of her main rules to keep the affair going without being caught was not to be greedy, as seeing Dan more often could easily lead her to be discovered, as more reckless affairs are often the first ones to be found out.
Her eight rules in full were:
- Turn off apps that monitor location
- Tell only one confidante
- Stick to soft drinks as it's more business like
- Never mention new interests or change behaviour
- Expect the worst and always have an excuse
- Be vague and unavailable
- Choose a lover who is also married
- Don't get greedy with meet-ups
Those eight rules might work for her situation, or perhaps the tower of lies will come crashing down at some point and she'll reap a harvest of massive consequences.
It's no guarantee that having an affair would work for you, since if you're not happy with your partner you could always act like a normal person and split up with them.
Caroline thinks it has worked for her, as she concluded: "I thought the passion would wane or that I’d be overtaken by guilt and end it. Neither has happened.
"The initial lust has turned into love — I adore every part of Dan, he makes me feel safe, loved and valued.
"Other than my children, there’s no one I’d rather spend time with."
Whether her kids would want to spend time with her if they found out is something Caroline is yet to discover.

"He's my soulmate and I love him"
Caroline, as she calls herself to preserve her anonymity, writes: "For 14 long years we’ve conducted our illicit affair - and we have no intention of stopping - I can’t imagine life without him. He’s my soulmate and I love him.
"For that reason I’ll never risk being discovered - which is why we’re both fiercely practical and, despite being in love, never get swept away by emotions. Love affairs that are wild and reckless get discovered."
Having met at a work conference back in 2011, Caroline and Dan began their love affair, which has seen them meet up roughly every 10 days ever since, and neither shows any signs of stopping despite marriages at home.
She did face some guilt at first, particularly when her young children asked her about her 'work conferences' but her husband's unwillingness to change is what drove her to the arms of another man.
Caroline added: "I hugged my secret close, reliving those moments I’d spent with Dan, where I’d felt so liberated and sexy for the first time since having children. I knew I would see him again. And we’ve been meeting up every 10 days or so ever since."
