British Gas’ new 9am Saturday rule saves you cash but another deal cuts bills by £100+

British Gas has announced the PeakSave Super Saturday Tariff - but it's not even as good as what it currently offers elsewhere

British Gas has alerted customers to a brand new 9am Saturday rule that could save them money every weekend - but it's a deal the energy supplier already beats with its current offerings.

The so-called '9am rule' could apply to millions of British Gas customers if they make the change to take advantage of the new 13-month PeakSave Super Saturday Tariff.

To get to the point of that quickly, the deal gives customers on the tariff eight hours of electricity at half the usual price they pay.

The cost of living deal is fixed between the hours of 9am and 5pm, so that's the time to stick that extra load of washing on, boil the kettle for those extra cup of teas, load up the PlayStation 5 once GTA 6 is finally released, and batch cook those meals for the week ahead.

Building on British Gas' PeakSave Super Sunday Tariff, it now means the firm offers half price weekend deals. The Sunday deal currently offers half price energy between the hours of 11am and 4pm, with that window a bit shorter in both the morning and late afternoon.

But British Gas actually beats itself with another deal; a deal millions could potentially take advantage of.

Already on the books at British Gas is its Samsung Weekend Saver.

How much can you save?

Compared to the Saturday only deal, estimates say the Samsung tariff could see you save up to £120 per year, with that number changing based off of your consumption. The more you use, the more you save.

The average saving for the PeakSave Super Saturday Tariff sits between £23 and £29, as per the British Gas website.

James Hughes, Head of Sales and Partnerships at British Gas, previously said: “We’re excited to take another step forward in our relationship with Samsung and give customers smarter ways to manage their energy and save money through the use of the latest technology.

"More than 1.2 million British Gas customers are already using PeakSave to cut their bills and now Samsung customers can double their savings, with half-price electricity on Saturdays too! Whether it’s doing the laundry, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or settling in to watch the football, this new tariff gives households further opportunities to save money at the weekend."
