A two-year-old staffie called Lola rescued her owner from being raped when the pup scared off the attacker.

Jade Logan, from Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, was walking her dog close to her mum's house when a man allegedly pulled her into the shadows by her hair.

The 30-year-old felt a hand go over her mouth in the assault, reports the Mirror.

The traumatised mum-of-three told Belfast Live: "I have no doubt as to what his intentions were, he was definitely out to rape me."

She explained: "I hadn't seen or heard a thing, he came out of nowhere.

"He had his hand on my mouth and he pulled my head back by my hair with such force that I have lost patches of hair and have lumps on my head.

"I thought I was going to die but all I could think of was my three children.

"He said, 'Your dog can watch'. He was too strong and I was so terrified I couldn't get turned round to see him."

Jade let go of Lola's lead and the dog then began growling at the man before sinking her teeth into his arm and causing him to flee.

"Lola had a really good grip of him in her jaw and he started to struggle to try and get her off," Jade explained. "As he was trying to get Lola off his arm he had to let me go and as soon as he got free he ran off."

After the alleged attack, Jade called her partner who then contacted the police.

Describing her heroic pet as a 'placid dog', Jade believes that without Lola's assistance, she would not have been able to protect herself.
