Paranormal investigators hear 'ghost' saying 'are we friends?' in 'spirit box' hotel recording

Paranormal investigators hear 'ghost' saying 'are we friends?' in 'spirit box' hotel recording

The spooky hall is said to be haunted by several ghosts

Paranormal investigators reckon they’ve caught the moment a spirit box asked 'are we friends?' in a 500-year-old haunted hotel.

Birmingham's Castle Bromwich Hall, built between 1557 and 1585, is said to be home to numerous ghosts - so of course, it was an obvious choice for ghost hunters Afterlife Paranormal. You can see footage of the incident here:

They spent the night at the castle and claim to have managed to grab some footage of ghosts, including one that is ‘wearing a dress’.

Afterlife Paranormal also recorded a door seemingly opening up on command.

Charlie told the Birmingham Mail: "We had the door opening into the boardroom on its own. We experimented with the door, because, we shut the door and went around the grounds for 40 minutes to see if the door had opened, to see if there was a wind or anything, but the door was still shut when we got back."

And in footage caught on camera, a voice can be heard coming from a device known as a ‘spirit box’ asking: “Are we friends?”

In the clip, Charlie Harker, aged 58 from Walsall, told the spirit: "Are we friends? Yes we are friends, that is why I want you to open the door again. I'm trying to be your friend."

Ghost hunters stayed overnight at the haunted hall.

Moments later a door begins to open - seemingly by itself - while Charlie can be heard saying: "As I said 'I want to be your friend', the door has opened. What the f***? Thank you."

A spirit box is a device which is said to collect electronic voice phenomena (EVP) and translate that into words - giving a spirit a chance to ‘speak’.

"We had an interesting EVP saying 'Teresa',” Charlie continued.

"It was the spirit box. In one room, it said my name first, Charlie. It didn't actually say Charlie, it said 'Char... lie'. It spoke in English but it sounded like somebody with an accent.

Investigators think they caught several spirits on film.

"The second EVP we got said 'Teresa', which sounded like a younger voice to the other one.”

Charlie reckons the first voice he heard could belong to a former resident called Lady Ida, while the second one may have belonged to a woman called Catherine Arden.

"There was definitely something going on there. I know the building goes back to the 16th century but I didn't expect anything to happen.

"I have been to buildings like this before and nothing has happened. That place was active that night, it was alive. Lady Ida lived there for quite a long time and I believe one of the spirits must be her."
