Footage has caught the terrifying moment a huge shark was spotted just feet away from a couple who were swimming in the sea.

Chris Arteaga filmed and shared the footage, which shows the couple seemingly completely oblivious as the shark gets closer and closer.

The shark's fin can be seen poking out above the water as it makes its way towards the man and woman.

Back on the beach, two people start to frantically scream and shout to try and get the attention of the couple in order to warn them about the shark.

At this point, the couple spot the animal and start to scramble away as quickly as they can - swimming off and away from the shark towards the shore.

The clip cuts out before the man and woman get on dry land, but Chris later confirmed that 'thankfully, no one was injured'.

This isn't the first time a camera has caught a shark creeping close to people while on a beach; earlier this year, a dad inadvertently filmed a Great White swimming towards his children.

Dan Watson, a photographer who runs YouTube channel Learning Cameras, was at the seaside in Florida with his family, where he was messing about with his drone camera.

After looking at a couple of his shots he spotted a shadowy shape of a shark in the background.

The couple scrambled away from the shark.

Speaking to FOX35 Orlando, Dan said: "Kids were playing in the beach and I just decided, 'Hey, now's a good time to get a picture of them overhead.'

"Literally, as soon as I got it into the air, I started seeing a shadow moving through the water right towards them."

He quickly got the attention of his wife and shouted at her to get the kids out the sea.

His wife Sally told FOX35 Orlando: "I was at the edge of the water and the kids were standing in the water and I was like, 'Get out, get out, get out.' I didn't know why.

"So, he immediately brings the drone to me and he shows me the frame of the drone and you see that shark swimming right at our kids - it was terrifying."

Thankfully, the kids were able to get out of the sea and to safety on the beach, while the shark headed off in the opposite direction.
