Man Tries To Frame Dog By Placing Poo On Tram Seat

A man in Turkey has been accused of trying to frame a dog by planting poo on a tram. Watch the bizarre footage here:

OK, so clearly this video needs a lot of explaining - let's get to it.

Basically, there is a popular stray dog in Istanbul who is famous for travelling on public transport.

On Friday (19 November), he was accused on social media of soiling a seat on the tram; however, Istanbul Municipality spokesperson Murat Ongun subsequently shared CCTV footage of an unknown man placing the turd on the seat.

Captioning the footage, he said: "It was alleged that Boji had pooped on the tram. But the cameras showed us these incredible images, watch it."

Fair play, it is pretty incredible. How long had that bloke carried that crap around for? And is he even using a bag to hold it? It sure looks like he ain't.

At this point you're probably wondering why someone would do such a thing - and this is where things get really messy.

According to Gazete Duvar, the plot is part of a political row. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) lost Istanbul to rival party the Republican People's Party (CHP) in 2019 local elections.

Since then, there have been numerous attempts by the AKP to defame Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, according to Gazete Duvar.

It is thought this odd dog dirt plot could be the latest effort to make the mayor look bad, presumably by painting him as someone who allows stray dogs to s*** all over public transport.

Boji's Twitter account, run by dog trainer Ali Yeşilırmak, refuted the claims he pooed on the train.

The tweet read: "I was at the training centre all day. I did not even step out of the centre to travel in Istanbul.

"Somebody put the poop on the tram and tried to put the blame on me. Shame on you!"

Boji has become a bit of a celebrity in the city and is often spotted travelling about on trains, buses and ferries.

Speaking to CNN last month, photographer Chris McGrath said: "He knows exactly where the doors are for the trains.

"He'll stand on the side of the platform, and as soon as he hears the vibration of the train coming, he goes to the very end of the platform and then basically chases the train back and waits by the door.

"He's quite pushy actually; people are trying to get off, he tries to get on."

What a guy.
