Chilling confession from man on his deathbed left hospital workers on edge

The man confessed to a series of crimes on his deathbed

Working as a nurse or doctor with end-of-life patients can be a very rewarding and impactful job.

As people who are in need of that care are vulnerable, they often need a listening ear to listen to their regrets, happiest moments and even confessions.

But what would you do if the man you were looking after shocked you with a death bed confession so awful it sent the entire hospital into chaos?

This is exactly what happened when a dying man confessed to a life of historical crime and ended up working with the police to solve a series of cold cases.

The unnamed man allegedly admitted to being an ex-gang member, and a for-hire killer or hitman.

I wouldn’t like to have been his nurse and hear that.

The ex-gang member made his confession to a nurse working in his ward, and as a result, she was forced to contact the hospital's legal team, as there were no policies in place to deal with this type of situation.

Taking to the Nurses of Reddit thread, the woman explained what had happened after the confession.

She said: "We had an ex-gang guy who was dying of cancer, and he confessed that he was the gang hitman for many years.

"He wanted to confess to all the killings and show the police where the bodies are buried. He would get closure knowing that the surviving families of his victims find out where they were buried. We had to get the hospital legal team involved because we had no policies to deal with that. Cops got involved and the dude confessed to gang murders from decades ago."

The interesting story piqued users’ interest and they asked her a series of questions about the situation and what happened as a result of his death bed confession.

One user asked the nurse: "In a situation like that, do they arrest the guy and bring him in or just let him stay in the hospital? Is there suddenly a cop stationed outside his room?"

Another user asked her: "I wonder if he actually did all those himself. Because that seems like the perfect way to cover for your buddies as well, just claim a few of their hits and chances they'll just close the case after your confession."

Someone else added: "On one hand, it's such a blessing that he revealed this info. On the other hand, he probably would have never opened his mouth if he wasn't dying, knowing there would be no consequence (in this world anyway)."

The confession left the hospital scrambling.

The nurse then posted a follow-up to answer the most asked questions and said: "The police took his statement, but he was never charged because he was literally dying. He died at the hospice a week later.

“We never found out if the information he gave led to anything though. I kept hoping for a big news story about it but nothing turned up. We also didn’t want to ask too many questions because of the gang connections and stuff."

I wouldn’t go around asking questions either.

That’s a pretty gnarly confession, let’s hope she didn’t have to go through another confession like this one again in her career.
