Dad takes his nine-year-old son to Liverpool Hooters after he gets good school report

Paul was so proud of his son's academic achievements that he decided to surprise him with a trip to Hooters

I don't know about you, but when I got a decent-ish school report, my parents would give me a 'well done' and a pat on the back. Maybe, at a push, they might take us to somewhere like TGI Friday's... at a push.

But Paul Edwards, from Liverpool, had something a touch more exciting in store for his son, Buddy, after he got a glowing review from his teachers this week.

Proud of his lad's achievements at school, the 36-year-old thought he'd earned himself a slap-up meal and a night out on the town.

Buddy loved his trip to Hooters.

And where better to take his nine-year-old than the brand new Hooters that's just opened in town?

Yes, really.

For those of you who aren't particularly familiar with the chain's work, it basically involves young, attractive women serving beer, burgers and the usual barbecue staples to a largely male clientele.

If you've seen any American comedy from the 90s or mid-2000s, you will know what I'm talking about.

Recently, though, the chain has started opening up spots in the UK, with one in Nottingham and now another in Merseyside.

Paul surprised his lad with a trip to the restaurant after he got a good school report.

Speaking to LADbible, Paul said Buddy didn't actually believe it was real, so he thought he'd take him there to prove that it was.

"We went to hooters as a reward for Buddy getting great report in school," the proud dad tells us.

"He always thought it was fake, so when one opened up in Liverpool, I surprised him with a visit.

"He was a bit shy at first but then he loved it - the staff were great and so helpful, and the food was beautiful."

Adding: "It's a great place to watch the match."

Paul and Buddy said they had a great time.

Now, you might be wondering what Buddy's mother thought of all this.

I think if the majority of dads asked their partners if they could take their son to Hooters, we know what the response is likely to be. And it's not a good one.

But Paul says Buddy's mum was super chilled about it all.

"She was cool," he says. "She even dropped us off."

Talk about living the dream, eh?

And the pair are already planning on going back for another outing.

Buddy told us: "I want to come here every week for a dad and lad night. The food's great!"

"He said he wants to go and watch England v USA on Friday (25 November)," Paul added.

I think a lot of dads out there could learn a thing or two from Paul.
