McDonald's has just raised the stakes after launching a triple cheeseburger in 60 restaurants across the UK.

That's right, three patties and three slices of cheese all tucked up into a bun, giving you triple the fun of a normal cheeseburger.

Currently the pimped-up burger is being trialled in 60 UK restaurants and a further nine restaurants in Ireland, costing £2.39 (although prices may vary from branch to branch).

If it goes down well with punters, McDonald's plans to give it the nationwide roll-out it arguably deserves later this year.

According to the Sun, places selling the burger include branches in Worksop, Crystal Peaks, Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Balby, Thorne, Chesterfield, Balborough, Markham Vale, Hillsborough, Tankersley, Woodall Services, Cortonwood, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Kingston-Upon-Hull, Hull, Cleethorpes, Willerby, Ennerdale, Bridlington, Beverley, York, Bilbrough Top, Goole, Selby, Shiptonthorpe, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Scarborough.

It won't be the first time the hench burger has been available here, having been launched for limited runs previously - including in 1994, when it was being sold as the Hat Trick as part of a World Cup '94 offer.

According to Burger Lad, some pockets of the internet also claim it was also available with other football tournaments in '98 and '00.

It's also already been doing the rounds on menus elsewhere in the globe, including in Australia, where it's been on sale for some time now.

But as the burger often comes and goes for McDonald's fans in the UK, the folk at burger news and reviews website Burger Lad have taken it upon themselves to recreate the joy the DIY way using permanent menu fixtures.

Explaining the fairly straightforward method, a post from 2018 says all you need is a Double Cheeseburger and a standard Cheeseburger.

"The regular cheeseburger is on the Saver Menu and, as Burger Lad® speculated, is often the entry point for most people into the wondrous world of the Golden Arches," the post says.

"For this, the patty, cheese and sauce are removed from the bun, and added to the Double (carefully, I might add, as the cheese is sticky and you could tear things and make a mess).

"And that really all there is too it. You end up with three beef patties, three cheese slices and two rounds of sauce & pickles.
