A health and fitness influencer has shared an old school sleeping method that he promises will give you the 'best sleep of your life'.

Content creator Justin Agustin, who claims to know how to make you fall asleep in two minutes, has shared the ways of Master Mu Yuchun.

The Beijing martial arts master studied traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage in college and went on to start the Association of Traditions and Culture of China in 2005.

And Agustin claims you 'will get the best sleep of your life tonight if you sleep like this Chinese master'.

"This is Master Mu Yuchun and according to him, we've been sleeping wrong our whole life," he said in a video posted on his TikTok page (@justin_agustin).

"Most of us sleep on our side or on our back. And for those who sleep on your stomach, you already know that's not good."

For side sleepers, Mu Yuchun apparently recommends placing a pillow beneath the wrist to elevate it, improving blood flow and reducing tension.

He also advises hugging a pillow rather than keeping the chest compressed with the opposite arm, as this prevents restricting lung expansion and circulation.

"I'm sure a lot of you do this already," Agustin says.

"If you are a back sleeper, most of us sleep with a pillow underneath our head and that typically compresses our neck."

Instead, Mu Yuchun apparently advises to place a pillow under the legs which can relieve lower back pressure and improve circulation in the lower body.

You can also get some decent neck support by adjusting the pillow to reduce pressure on the spine and open up the airways, with specialised pillows available but not necessary if you position yourself right.

"This could relieve pressure in your lower back, improve circulation in your lower body," he adds.

"Re-adjust it so that it supports your neck, putting less pressure on your spine and opening up those airways.

"There's also special pillows designed for that, but it's a matter of being mindful first and foremost."

Now that you've got your sleep position sorted, apparently getting that elusive 'eight hours' isn't as important as we thought.

“There is a common misconception about the ‘magic eight hours of sleep’ and how this is the only way to get a good night’s rest, however as a nation this is not what we should be focusing on,” expert and TED Talk speaker James Leinhardt previously said.

“For most people, it is unrealistic - our study has proven that not even one in five people manage to achieve eight hours. The main thing we should be focusing on is sleep quality not quantity.

“If you’re getting a good quality night sleep, it shouldn’t matter whether you are waking up at 6am or getting your full 8 hours every night.”
