We live in a world that's become obsessed with eating as healthy as possible, but it turns out there's a common superfood available for cheap in nearly every supermarket.
If you've spent any time on social media in recent years, you'll probably stumble across the so-called food experts who claim that you should never eat sugar or exclusively consume meat.
Some celebrities, who will not be named, have bragged about their testicle-based diets, so whenever you're feeling bad about chomping down on a frozen pizza or some ice cream, remember that things could always be worse.
The term superfood has become increasingly common in recent years, and while some influencers might try to convince you that this is eating steak or eggs for every meal, a healthy balance is usually best.

Chia seeds are one topping which have some seriously super benefits, and now, a doctor has explained why you might want to try consuming another staple of the supermarket.
For those of you concerned that it might be something expensive like caviar, or American eggs, fear not. You can pick up ginger relatively cheaply in most spots and it lasts a long time, whether you want to use it as a spice in your cooking, or simply in a cup of tea with some lemon.

Posting on YouTube, Doctor Sethi explained some of the incredible benefits of ginger, and why eating it every day for two weeks could be transformative.
He said: "Ginger contains gingerol which inhibits inflammatory cytokines and cox2 enzymes, helping to reduce inflammation throughout your body. It promotes gastric motility and aids in gastric emptying. This prevents nausea. This is essentially a polite way of saying it helps to keep you regular.

The doctor added: "And third, ginger is a powerful antioxidant. Ginger can lower levels of bad cholesterol and acts as a natural blood thinner supporting overall heart health."
He isn't alone in this opinion either, as Johns Hopkins Medicine states that ginger is fantastic for nausea relief, bloating, and gas, and is also a great food for anyone who is pregnant or going through chemotherapy.
They write: "Ginger is not just delicious. Gingerol, a natural component of ginger root, benefits gastrointestinal motility ― the rate at which food exits the stomach and continues along the digestive process. Eating ginger encourages efficient digestion, so food doesn’t linger as long in the gut."
So the next time you're feeling nauseous or bloated, it might be worth chomping down on a whole pack of ginger nuts (for anyone who's not British, that's a biscuit). Or if you want to play it extra safe, maybe just have a lemon and ginger tea.
