A new study has revealed the average time that a man lasts in bed, depending on his age, and there are some very surprising results.
With 2026 on the horizon, humanity is perhaps more open about what goes on in their bedroom than ever before, with celebrities revealing who they lost their virginity to, while some folks even appear on TV to open up their relationship in front of the whole world.
Unfortunately, a lot of the sexual education young men and women receive in school revolves around what they see in online pornography, and that can often provide a distorted image of what sex actually looks like in real life, with doctors also linking excessive porn consumption to health issues such as erectile dysfunction.

But when blokes do get round to doing the real thing, perhaps the thing that is measured most, other than the obvious, is just how long the experience lasts.
A lot of men are naturally competitive so when they hear these average times they may well want to best that, but the best thing to focus on is probably how your partner is feeling, and it's good to remember that longer doesn't always mean better.
Of course, times are always likely to vary, as you might be on your third round when you decide that's your usual time, or you might have had some alcohol which can also impact your performance.
Naturally, things are going to slow down a bit as you get older, certainly when your hips don't work like they used to before, but a study from LoveHoney has come up with the average times you'd expect from men in different age groups.
Men aged between 18-24
When you're just 18, unless you've been busy during your school years, sex will likely still be a fairly new experience for you, so everything is probably very exciting.
This might well lead to a quicker finish when nerves or excitement get the better of you and supposedly men in this age group are lasting an average of 16.14 minutes before having an orgasm.

Around five percent last just one or two minutes, a further 13 percent aim for between three and five minutes while five percent, no doubt including Jay Cartwright, suggested they can go for over an hour.
Men aged between 25-34
This really is the golden period for most of us, when you're experienced enough to know what you're doing and you're not worried about pulling a back muscle while you're getting busy.
The study suggests that men of this age last 18.29 minutes on average, which is a very respectable score, although some times sex does need to be a sprint rather than a marathon, especially when your lives get busier.
Men aged between 35-44
Things start to slow down a bit at this age, with kids perhaps meaning that you don't have quite as long to yourselves, while you're also probably starting to notice your stamina drop a little.
This is reflected in the bedroom as men of this age last around 17.40 minutes on average, which again is by no means a bad time, as long as you and your partner are productive in that time.
Men aged between 45-54
You're definitely considered middle-aged at this point and it's no surprise that this is where we see our lowest score so far, as our youthful exuberance for sex no doubt disappears somewhat.
Men of this age reported an average time of 14.14 minutes, which is very satisfying for hopefully for more than one reason.

Men aged between 55-64
You might even be a grandad at this point so it would be unfair for your partner to expect a serious shift, as you probably just want to sit down and watch The Chase.
However, if you do have the energy for a little romance between the sheets, things are apparently unlikely to last longer than 15 minutes, as men of this age reported an average time of 11.30 minutes.
Men aged 65+
It's the dream of many to still have the energy for sex as they reach their later life and there's certainly no reason why you shouldn't be enjoying yourselves, as even with a hip replacement you can probably still make things work.
It's only likely to last around 8.15 minutes on average as well, so you can probably squeeze one in at half-time on a Saturday.
Now, it must also be said that a younger person is perhaps far more likely to lie about the time it actually takes them to reach climax, which is perhaps why we see the numbers start to dwindle after the age of 34, but really as long as you and your partner are having fun, it's nobody's business but your own.
Lovehoney’s sexual health expert and sexual health nurse Sarah Mulindwa told Metro: "Research shows that session length tends to peak in the late 20s to early 30s and gradually shortens as men get older.
"In your 20s, excitement and novelty are high, which can lead to quicker climaxes, but recovery is fast, and stamina is generally good. At this stage, it’s all about pacing – using edging, breathwork, or condoms strategically can help build control.’
"However, what matters most at any age is communication, technique, and pleasure – not the stopwatch."
