Blind Girl Who Speaks No English Sings Whitney Houston Classic Like A Pro
| Last updated
You often cringe when you hear a celeb or singer has done a cover of a legendary song - you know they rarely live up to the original. But one girl was filmed singing the classic 1992 song 'I Will Always Love You', and she gives the late Whitney Houston a run for her money.
The video of Elsie, from the Philippines, has now gone viral thanks to her remarkable talent - and people have also been amazed to learn that she is blind, has never been to school and cannot speak a single work of English. Oh my god, though, she can really belt out the iconic Bodyguard song.
In the footage Elsie passionately sings the hit song acapella, hitting all the high notes in an emotional performance.
If you close your eyes it's almost like being in the presence of Whitney in her heyday.
Elsie lives in a small fishing village in the Philippines, and learns songs through repetition after listening to them.
Her video has been viewed more than 30,000 times on Facebook and people have left thousands of comments amazed by her talent.
One person said: "She is so beautiful and so is her voice - she made me cry, it's that beautiful."
Another said: "She needs a music company to hear her. Her voice is absolutely amazing."
Elsie's story is similar to that of a girl from Mexico, called Julia Mariza Ceja.
Julia is blind, has autism, and has echolalia - a neurological disorder characterised by unsolicited repetition of another person's spoken words. She also has an amazing singing voice.
Like Elsie, she doesn't speak English, but she is able to learn songs by imitating the familiar sounds.
Despite the language barrier and her disabilities, Julia isn't afraid to share her powerful voice with the world.
Through song, these incredible teens are able to express themselves while wowing people across the Internet. Well, if you've got the skills...
Along with talented youngsters, some celebs have surprised their fans and audiences by revealing themselves to have impressive singing voices.
One of these was the star of ITV's This Morning, Phillip Schofield.
More well known for presenting the morning chat show alongside Holly Willoughby, Phil knocked it out the park when he performed a song from the hit musical Joseph and his Technicolor Dream Coat during an appearance on Saturday Night Takeaway.
Though he shocked loads of his current fans, die-hard Schofield fans - assuming they exist - would probably know known he's actually starred in the musical before, playing Joseph in a West End staging of the production way back in 1991.
