Guy Turns His Bedroom Into A Harry Potter Themed Chamber

There's being a Harry Potter fan, and then there's turning your room into a chamber that looks like it would be perfectly at home in Hogwarts.

And what's even better is that he did it all on a budget - meaning if you have the time and desire, it wouldn't actually cost you that much.

Brian Thompson, a barista from Thousand Oaks, California, decided he quite fancied himself a bit of renovation work after he'd visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando.

The set tour shows off all the amazing interiors of the film and it gave Brian all the inspiration he needed to create his Potter themed room.

When he came home, he decided to start looking for furniture in second hand stores and accessories that would look at home in a castle for witches and wizards.

Over the next year, he carefully collected the things he needed to bring his idea to life.

Speaking to blog Cordially Carrington, Brian said: "All of my furniture is from the Goodwill or other local thrift stores.

"Each red chair in my room was about $6 (£4.60). The black display case was $5 (£3.90). I must have made over 100 trips to thrift stores over 18 months to find everything I have.

"Everything is covered in a thin layer of caulking so I could protect and paint it all easily. The trees have a chicken wire fence structure that I covered in Great Stuff insulation foam."

To create a realistic star filled sky, he used fairy lights in a very creative manner.

He continued: "I found the perfect LED string lights on Amazon and ordered about eight strands [each with 100 lights]. I painted the wires black, painted my ceiling black, then used a staple gun to sporadically distribute them throughout the 'sky'."

He then used different shades of pale coloured spray paint to look like clouds.

"The perimeter of the top of the walls are lined with door mirrors from Home Depot, $5 (£3.90) each, to give the sky a bit of an 'infinity' effect that reaches beyond the castle walls," he added.

People have understandably been more than impressed with the transformation.

"To be in a space that was brought to life from nothing but a simple idea and a few drawings. There's nothing I love more in the world than to simply create."

Looks like he might have found his calling in life.
