Absolute Legend Creates 6-Metre High Christmas Tree Out Of Empty Beer Cans

With more than 1,500 cans of Emu Export, this is easily one of the most Aussie Christmas trees you'll ever see.

The Christmas spirit is alive and well in some corners of the globe, but it's no bigger than in Perth, Western Australia.

While the sunny, idyllic location couldn't be further away from the snowy, traditional Christmas setting we've all grown to expect from Hollywood movies and TV shows, it has something better.

A bloke, who has the nickname Mad Bogan, has constructed an impressive, six-metre tall Christmas tree made from empty beer cans.

Wes Boyd reconstructed his incredible Coca-Cola can tree he made, but this time with around 1,500 empty cans of Emu Export.

That's a hell of a lot of beer, but he didn't have one sip. Instead, he left all the drinking to his pals and they kindly donated the trophies so that Mad Bogan could create the most Australian looking tree in existence.

While that sounds like a fairly insurmountable task, Wes' mates managed to sink enough Bush Chook in time and they helped finish the construction in just a week.

He simply placed the beer cans on the outside rim left from the Coca-Cola tree, however this presented a new problem: it was bloody heavy.

Wes decided to get a cherry picker in to help him put the finishing touches on the tree, which includes a huge light that illuminates from the top. Once he was happy with the result, he got to stand back and admire his and his mate's hard work.

The Mad Bogan is hoping to illuminate the tree every night, which sits just outside his property, and get people to raise at least $1,000 for Alzheimer's WA. The father-of-five lost his mum to Alzheimer's Disease, so he's hoping his small garden project can help others.

Wes gained similar headlines back in 2016 when he unveiled a very similar looking boozy Christmas tree, but this one was stacked with Victoria Bitter cans.

It took an even more impressive 2,536 cans to make up the 4.4 metre high tree that even featured a Ned Kelly angel on top.

Speaking to Perth Now about the creation, Wes said: "I wanted to build it to make people happy. Me and some mates love drinking VBs and two to three mates have been bringing empty cans over here every week for the past 14 months."
